Emmerdale spoilers follow from Thursday’s episode (18 September), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

It’s a nail-biting visit to Emmerdale tonight, with the terrible truth about John Sugden finally out in the open. As Aaron Dingle has exposed John’s true colours, the villagers are in shock… but they still don’t know the half of it.

Top priority is tracking down Mackenzie Boyd, who’s been trapped in an underground bunker by evil John for weeks now. With time clearly running out for Mack, can he be rescued before it’s too late?

The latest episode airs at 7.30pm tonight, or is streaming now. Here are seven early teasers on what to expect, without giving away the full outcomes…

1. Mack experiences visions of Charity

Mack starts to lose all hope in the bunker and injects himself with the syringe that John left behind before abandoning him.

In a touching moment, Mack experiences hallucinations of Charity – showing how desperate he is to be reunited with her.

2. Aaron speaks out

Aaron gave just enough information to expose John’s guilt in yesterday’s episode, but after some time to recover, he’s finally able to share more of the sinister story.

In a sombre conversation with Moira, Chas and Charity at the hospital, Aaron reveals more about what he knows regarding John’s reign of terror. There’s much more to it than the villagers ever would have suspected – poor Aaron probably won’t know where to start…

3. Cain returns

Cain’s recent trip away from the Dales with John seemingly ended without incident (a first for John!). He returns to the hospital unscathed after helping John to leave, and is completely unaware that anything is amiss.

The village bad boy is shellshocked to hear the suspicions surrounding John’s behaviour. When he mentions that he took John back to the cottage, Charity frets that the ruthless villain went back to deal with Mack…

4. Victoria seeks answers

After finally realising that Robert was right all along, Victoria chats to him on the phone and sheepishly asks for more information on John’s crimes. Robert’s already been through all of this once, but as sceptical Vic was dismissive the first time, she needs a quick refresher…

Victoria also reaches out to Paddy, wondering whether the transcripts of John’s calls to the helpline could throw up any clues.

5. The search for Mack takes an alarming turn

Police arrive at the cottage where Aaron and John were staying and go searching for the nearby bunker. Charity joins them at the scene, determined to be there for her husband.

When the police finally find the underground lair, though, they’re disturbed to find that Mack is nowhere to be seen! So, where on earth is he? All will be revealed as the episode progresses…

6. Dylan faces a tough interview

Meanwhile, back in the village, Dylan has a chance to turn his life around as he has a job interview at the depot.

While Caleb is willing to give Dylan a chance – relating to the struggles he’s faced – Jai is much more stern and refuses to give the troubled teen an easy ride. Can Dylan cope under the pressure?

7. April sparks suspicion

April almost gets busted as she carries out another drug delivery for Ray. After interrupting April’s encounter with a dodgy lad, PC Swirling brings her back to the village.

Swirling and Rhona are both confused over why April would be hanging around in a seedy location – will her cover story be enough to fool them?
