The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott, beloved for her longtime role as Nikki Newman, took to Instagram to show off her newest addition to the family in honor of National Cat Day.

Celebrated on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, National Cat Day is recognized in many countries as a time to raise awareness about cat adoption and to celebrate our feline friends.

On Instagram, Scott shared:

“This is our newest member of the family. She found her way into our backyard — so fragile, so weak, so hungry. She is now such a special part of our lives. We named her Cashmere because of her beauty. We love her forever! Happy #NationalCatDay.”

In real life, Scott is married to The Young and the Restless executive producer Edward J. Scott. The couple married in 1985 and share three daughters: Jennifer (Edward’s daughter from a previous marriage), Alexandra Danielle Yeaggy, and Elizabeth.

Scott’s heartwarming post was quickly flooded with love from fans and fellow soap stars. Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Baldwin) commented, “So beautiful. Enjoy your new baby ❤️❤️ How lucky she is!”

On screen, Scott’s iconic alter ego Nikki Newman remains one of daytime television’s most beloved characters of all time. Her character, Nikki, is married to Victor Newman, played by Eric Braeden.
