In recent episodes, Mack managed to escape but it was short-lived as he was found moments later once again by the villain.

Meanwhile, John had also drugged Aaron Dingle, hoping to keep his husband by his side at all times in an attempt to feel “needed”. However, Aaron drank more than John expected and followed him into the woods just as he went on the hunt for Mack.

Aaron, pretending to believe John’s lies, has since started questioning his behaviour and then discovered Mack’s phone in his pocket.

During Monday’s (September 8) installment of the ITV soap, things took a turn once more as Aaron became determined to find Mack.

Running through the woods, he ran past the underground bunker in his confusion and ended up in front of a gorge instead.

As John caught up to him, Aaron tried to calm his husband down before Robert Sugden intervened and ruined everything. John, determined not to lose to Robert, made a chilling call to the police saying that Robert was trying to kill both him and Aaron.

Just seconds later, he told Aaron that if he can’t have him, no one can. Wrapping his arms around Aaron’s body, John plunged them both off the side of the cliff.

The credits rolled as the soap showed their bodies lying still on the ground, and unfortunately for viewers, we won’t know their fate until Wednesday (September 10).
