Days of Our Lives at 60: Maggie Sajak spins the Wheel all the way to Salem
As Days of our Lives hits its 60th anniversary, the celebration feels bigger than what’s just playing out on our screen. It’s gone national. Maggie Sajak — Wheel of Fortune’s social media correspondent and daughter of longtime host Pat Sajak — stepped into Salem herself this week for a crossover that brought soap nostalgia and game-show sparkle together in the most unexpected way.
Wheel Meets the Hourglass
Wheel of Fortune’s official Instagram page joined the party with a post that read, “Like sands through the hourglass… it’s Fanday Funday! Don’t waste a second and head to wheeloffortune.com RIGHT NOW to enter! #WheelOfFortune #DaysOfOurLives.” The caption sat above a video that looked like something out of a Days of our Lives fever dream — Maggie Sajak strolled into the Brady Pub, shocking the characters.
“It is I, Maggie Sajak, bringing you the Salem sweepstakes,” she stated, announcing a full-on sweepstakes for fans to win a VIP Days experience in Los Angeles. “I’m offering Wheel Watchers the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles to experience a behind-the-scenes look at Days of our Lives, including a special VIP tour, autographed memorabilia, and meet and greets with some of Salem’s favorite heroes and villains,” she explained.
Sajak also dropped into the comments, writing, “This was sooooo fun!!! Thank you @dayspeacock for the best day!” And judging by the replies, fans were eating it up. From longtime viewers to first-time contestants, the post became a lovefest — part nostalgia, part pure excitement.
Fans Lose It in the Best Way Possible

@christinemclark, a lifelong Days of our Lives fan, wrote, “I did that 40 years ago. Gloria Loring. Invited a lot of people to be in the audience of Days of our Lives. It was the most fun. I got to meet all of the older ones because I’m old. Bo, Hope patch, Maggie, Victor, Stefano, Kimberly, Kayla, John, I could go on and on.” Meanwhile, @sissy_texan declared, “I have to win this! My two favorite shows to watch,” while @wheelycrazyeugene added, “The Mystery wedge sound effect!”
The thread only got livelier as the night went on. @beegabeega3 said, “Oh, how neat to be on the Days set! Well done, Maggie!! Hope I win…!!” while @comeonbigmoney crowned her “the queen of side quests.” Over at @romikaonair, the enthusiasm hit warp speed: “The way I NEEED this!!!”
There were hearts, emojis, and full paragraphs of love for both Wheel of Fortune and Days of our Lives. @cheles2 wrote, “I would love this. I have been a fan of Days for 50 years.” And @jerrymilenbach kept it simple: “Loved watching this growing up lol. And what a play on it. You all continue to stay creative with all that you do. Love my wheel family!!!!”
