Jaden Lucas Miller is proving to be an asset to the soap genre. Currently, he plays Tyrell Richardson on Beyond the Gates, and viewers can’t get enough of him.

He’s not slowing down. Not one bit. Miller has been steadily building a name for himself, recently playing teenage Ozzie on Reasonable Doubt and recurring as Laz on Divorced Sistas.

But on November 16, the rising star took to Instagram with a throwback that meant a lot to him: the audition reel that helped land his BTG role. In his long, heartfelt caption, he revealed something fans didn’t know. He once auditioned for General Hospital on ABC.

Jaden Lucas Miller Gets Nostalgic

His post began, “A year ago today, I received the call that changed my life — the call telling me I booked the role of Tyrell Richardson on the biggest Black soap opera to debut in the last 25 years: Beyond The Gates.” He added, “Not only did I make history… but the journey leading up to this moment was nothing but divine alignment.”

Miller explained that the journey actually started with his mother. “In 2023, my mom called me into her room. She said, ‘J, I think you need to be on a soap opera.’ I remember asking her what exactly that was — I had no real idea. She started telling me stories about legendary soap actors, showing me clips, educating me like only a mom with a vision can. Then she said, ‘I’m going to call your agent and ask them to start submitting you for soap roles.’”

General Hospital

His mom’s instincts were right. “They listened — and not long after, an audition came in for General Hospital,” he wrote. He didn’t book the role, but the setback didn’t last long. “I didn’t know then that God was already preparing something bigger. Then came November 3rd.”

That was the day everything changed. “I was in class when my mom called me — excited, almost breathless. She said, ‘J, they’re launching a Black soap opera, and you will play Tyrell.’ I remember saying, ‘Mom… I didn’t even audition. How is that possible?’ She said something I will never forget: ‘This role was created for you. God heard my prayers — He told me it was coming.’”

Now, one year later, Miller still feels the weight and wonder of it all. “Here we are — standing in that answered prayer, walking in purpose, breathing in a blessing that was written long before I knew to dream it. Today, I stand as Tyrell Richardson on Beyond The Gates, not just as an actor, but as proof that faith, preparation, and persistence move mountains.”

“We prayed, he said. “We worked. We believed. And this is the result. God did it — and this is only the beginning.”

It absolutely is. Congratulations, Jaden Lucas Miller. You’re a star on the rise, and the gates you’re walking through are only getting bigger.
