What Happened To Kevin on ‘General Hospital’?

Kevin Collins hasn’t been seen on the ABC soap in over a year.

Key Points

  • ‘General Hospital’s Laura struggles alone as Kevin’s absence is blamed on his psychiatrist work.
  • Actor Jon Lindstrom plays on another soap, ‘Beyond the Gates,’ explaining his limited ‘General Hospital’ appearances.
  • Fans debate recasting Kevin or addressing his ongoing absence openly in the storyline.

Laura (Genie Francis) is going through it on General Hospital, and her husband Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) is nowhere to be found.

Along with fighting to keep her job as mayor, Laura’s grandson, Rocco (Finn Carr), was just framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Laura has been dealing with those things and more without Kevin.

For months, Laura has been giving various reasons for why her husband is missing in action. Laura’s reason always has to do with Kevin’s work as a psychiatrist.

Kevin has been a key part of the ABC soap since 1993. The character has been active in various romantic storylines, as well as ones involving his evil twin, Ryan (Jon Lindstrom). Kevin was last seen in the summer of 2024, when Laura and Kevin went to search for Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) in Africa amid Lulu’s (Alexa Havins) health crisis.

Since then, Laura has been living life on her own, but the reason has nothing to do with Kevin or Laura.

Lindstrom is recurring on General Hospital, and the show hasn’t been using him. However, part of that is because the actor has been working steadily as casino owner and all-around bad guy Joey Armstrong on the CBS soap Beyond the Gates.

Neither Lindstrom nor General Hospital have addressed his status with the ABC soap.

The good news is that since Lindstrom is recurring on both soaps, he could pop back up as Kevin. After all, Wally Kurth has been pulling double duty as Ned on General Hospital and Justin on Days of Our Lives for decades.

Lindstrom is definitely seen more on Beyond the Gates, but still, he’s not on daily and sometimes not even weekly.

General Hospital will soon address the death of Leslie Alexander with the passing of Laura’s mom, Lesley Webber, and Kevin needs to be by Laura’s side when that happens.

General Hospital Fans Weigh in on Kevin Being MIA

One fan on X addressed the fact that Kevin hasn’t been there for Laura at all.

“I get that Kevin’s alter Joey is busy causing hell on #beyondthegates 😉 But it still is very odd that Laura’s husband has been MIA during this election 🗳️ and not standing side-by-side with her #GH,” wrote the fan.

Fans were quick to react to the X with lots of different responses. “Yeah I’m surprised they don’t let him do a few shows a month or something. I remember Kevin yr and Leo days then Jason GH was on days at the same time. And all those were competing soaps. So why not Joey and Kevin?” declared a fan.

Another fan expressed, “Yeah, I was thinking about this too. At what point does Kevin make an appearance? I know Jon is very busy but we should see Kevin at least for a short scene.” “#GH Jon Lindstrom is a great actor and a longtime part of GH. But he made his choice to move to BTG (no doubt for lack of story and airtime on GH) so it’s time for Laura to either be widowed or given a new Kevin. I’d prefer a new Kevin because so many GH characters need a shrink!” insisted a fan.

Some fans suggested that Lindstrom be recast or that perhaps Laura should simply move on from Kevin if he isn’t going to be on-screen. Here’s hoping that General Hospital does something with its glaringly missing Kevin problem.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
