Emmerdale reveals big trouble for Celia on ITVX – as Kim pays an unexpected visit

Emmerdale spoilers follow from Friday’s episode (21 November), which is available to watch now on ITVX and YouTube but hasn’t yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale airs a long-awaited showdown between Celia Daniels and Kim Tate tonight, as the ruthless characters finally go head-to-head. Celia has bullied and threatened her way around the village for months now, but could she be about to meet her match?

The drama plays out when Kim crosses paths with Celia at the café and starts raising some awkward questions about the newcomer’s behaviour. Turns out that Kim has noticed Celia seems to have plenty of time on her hands, which seems strange for a supposedly busy farmer.

Although Celia is quick to bite back, Kim ups the ante with her tenant by vowing to pay a visit to the farm for an inspection.

Secretly panicking, Celia reminds Kim that she needs to give 24 hours’ written warning before making such a move – but when has Kim ever played by the rules?

Celia reckons she’s bought herself some breathing room, but Kim later ignores her warning and turns up regardless. It’s a frightening moment for Celia and Ray Walters, as they know their criminal empire could be exposed if Kim does too much snooping around the place.

Fans can see how Kim’s visit goes and who comes out on top when the episode airs at 7.30pm tonight, or it’s streaming early now on ITVX and YouTube.

Jaye Griffiths, who plays Celia, had previously teased plans for her character to go head-to-head with Kim before too long – describing them as “two women who don’t apologise for taking up space”.

Emmerdale is currently exploring the issue of exploitation and modern slavery, with Celia and Ray currently implicating April Windsor, Dylan Penders and Bear Wolf in different aspects of their illegal operation.

Speaking recently about Bear’s story, Emmerdale‘s producer Laura Shaw explained: “With our farming and rural backdrop we have an ideal setting, but it’s not all fluffy sheep and rolling landscapes. The countryside, just like an urban setting, can harbour the dark undercurrents of society.

“When Ray and Celia first came to Emmerdale it was clear that both characters were not to be trusted. We have seen their manipulation of April and Dylan, but this [story] featuring Bear ensnared in modern slavery, highlights the cruelty and control that these slave masters can exhibit.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
