With the ITV Corriedale crossover next month, some viewers are hopeful

Emmerdale fans think they’ve spotted a John Sugden return clue as they hope he makes an appearance in the ITV crossover.

It’s been three months since Emmerdale viewers watched John Sugden flee from the country after his long list of harrowing crimes were finally exposed to the residents who had treated him like their local hero.

John had entered the village a year ago, where he quickly became besotted with Aaron Dingle, his half-brother’s ex-husband. Not much was known about the former army medic, but things soon unravelled for him.

It was eventually revealed that he had accidentally killed Nate Robinson, as he had a hero complex that saw him put lives in danger just to save them.

However, with Nate, things didn’t go to plan and he ended up dumping his body in the lake – only found when said lake had to be dredged following the slurry tank leak that John also caused.

The truth was exposed after he held Mackenzie Boyd hostage who ended up putting two and two together. What followed was Aaron also working out that John had done something to Mack.

As John confessed everything to Aaron, Robert Sugden turned up at the scene causing a jealous and overprotective John to act out in desperation to keep Aaron all to himself.

After calling the police to frame Robert, he threw himself and Aaron over the edge of a cliff causing Aaron’s life to be on the line for a while until he woke up and told his loved ones everything.

Meanwhile, John managed to flee the country with the help of Caleb Miligan who agreed to work with John as he worried the latter would expose Ruby Miligan for killing her abusive father Anthony Fox.

Months on, Robert and Aaron tried to move on from John’s reign of terror but were haunted by someone new as Robert’s prison husband Kev Townsend showed up.

However, he left recently after Robert made it clear that he’s chosen Aaron for good. While this may be the case, ITVX have uploaded a new image for Emmerdale which shows Robert and Aaron with their ghosts of Kev and John in the background.

Now, some viewers think John could be returning to the ITV soap, with others hoping it could coincide with Corriedale crossover as John’s “wanted” poster has been seen at Weatherfield police station.

On a Reddit thread, u/simpforbobduncan wrote: “Hoping that this means both of them are going to be involved with the Corriedale crossover and that they are working together. The 4 of them together is going to be so interesting.”

u/solid-accountant1915 added: “Kev and John team up to take down the villagers” as u/televisualjackfan penned: “I do reckon he will indeed appear in person for CorrieDale though mind”.
