B&B Recap December 9: Brooke Questions Ridge

At the office, texts keep coming in, and Brooke mentions they’re all asking for more details about the wedding. She and Ridge agree that Beth has been such a little task-master and that she’s going to be absolutely adorable officiating the ceremony. Brooke notices Ridge seems a bit out of it, and he admits he’s still thinking about the retirement party for Ridge.

Brooke asks Ridge if he regrets having this retirement party. Ridge isn’t sure. His dad has been his inspiration his whole life. He only did what he did because he wants Eric to be okay… but maybe it should’ve been Eric’s decision to make.

Ridge admits he hopes somebody will love him enough, that’s when it’s his time, they will help him leave.

Brooke thinks he made the right choice. She says Ridge deserves the spotlight now. Ridge is grateful for the support, though he can’t get the image out of his head of his dad walking out with his stapler in hand.

Donna Encourages Eric

At home, Eric looks down at the paper, still upset about what Ridge did. Donna tells him Ridge is wrong about the whole retirement thing, but Eric can’t help wondering if his son might be right… if maybe his time really is up.

This whole retirement party really threw him. Maybe he should’ve seen it coming — his last collection was over a year ago. Eric admits he’s sorry for some of the things he said to Ridge.

Donna admits this doesn’t have to be all bad. She doesn’t want to sound selfish, but she was kinda hoping this might mean she and Eric could spend more time together.

Eric decides to change the subject. Enough about them — Hope and Liam are getting married tomorrow, and everyone’s excited. Donna points out the best part: Beth will be officiating. He feels a twinge of regret that he’s going to miss it all. Eric wonders if Donna’s okay with him staying away. She is — but she notes he’ll definitely be missed.

Hope and Liam Excited for the Wedding

Hope and Liam talk about the wedding, and she mentions that security’s been hired so paparazzi won’t be an issue. She says she’s learned so much from Eric over the years, and that maybe it’s finally time for him to pass the torch.

Hope says she’s sorry she had to put her dad in such a tough spot, but this is their daughter’s request, and they have to honor it. She still can’t fully believe Sheila has really changed. Liam points out that, well, she did kind of save Steffy’s life.

Beth comes out and asks if her parents tried to peek, but they promise they didn’t. She’s buzzing with nerves and excitement, she can’t wait to “marry” her parents.

Deacon Gives Sheila Bad News

He wonders what she was doing in the room for so long. She tells him she was trying to pick out an outfit for the wedding. She thinks they should color-coordinate, and she’s clearly excited — she can’t wait to be on his arm.

Sheila and Deacon are at home, talking about the big news: Eric’s retirement. Sheila admits she’s always had a soft spot for Eric, and Deacon reminds her she did marry the guy once. She quickly adds that the only man for her now is her husband sitting right beside her.
“Good answer,” Deacon says.

Sheila calls this their first real Sharpe event, but she can tell something’s up and asks Deacon what’s going on. He says they should keep the spotlight on Hope and Liam since it’s their day, they’re the ones calling the shots. Sheila notices the shift in his mood and presses him on it. That’s when Deacon finally tells her… she’s not invited to the wedding.

Sheila hopes it’s all a mistake. Deacon admits he was hoping something would change, but it hasn’t, and he hates having to tell her… she’s not on the guest list.

She wishes he could change Hope’s mind. However, Deacon tells her that it’s his daughter’s wedding and he will do what she wants.
