Michelle Hardwick plays Emmerdale’s Vanessa Woodfield on the ITV soap

Emmerdale star Michelle Hardwick was quick to praise her Coronation Street wife on Monday after a powerful episode.

On Monday, the hit ITV soap aired a special episode focused on Todd Grimshaw and Theo Silverton amid their harrowing domestic abuse storyline.

The entire episode was shown through the point of view of cameras such as Todd’s hidden camera, CCTV, dashcam, video doorbell and police bodycams as a series of flashbacks showed what really goes on behind closed doors in devastating scenes.

The episode ended with Todd being arrested after defending himself against evil Theo and upon the couple returning home from the police station, Theo found Todd’s hidden camera in the house in a scary cliffhanger…

Soap watchers were quick to praise the episode on Monday night, particularly actors Gareth Pierce and James Cartwright who play Todd and Theo, insisting the ITV soap deserved all the awards.

Emmerdale star Michelle, 49, who is married to Coronation Street executive producer, Kate Brooks, was quick to praise her wife on Monday night following the powerful and hard-hitting episode.

Michelle, who plays Vanessa Woodfield on Emmerdale and has been married to Kate since 2019, sweetly penned a lovely message to her wife on Instagram.

Michelle wrote: “Ok, proud wife alert here. If you’ve not caught tonight’s episode of @coronationstreet then please catch it on ITVX.

“‘What about an episode through the cameras in the house, will it work?’ Yes, yes it did Kate Brooks. From your genius idea, to @ijkershaw incredible writing and the ridiculously talented @matthiltondir directing. I mean, what a team.

“Not forgetting the amazing @garpierce and James Cartwright. The talent. A hard watch. An important watch. Proud of you @thekatebrooks” with a heart emoji.

Responding in the comments, one fan wrote: “Outstanding episode!! Such superb acting xxx”, a different account put: “This storyline has been a very difficult watch, and tonight’s episode was very powerful. Well done” while another added: “I give this particular episode 10/10. I wished it was longer!”

Elsewhere, a different soap watcher put: “Brilliant episode. Heartbreaking tho. Both playing their parts so well” while another fan wrote: “Absolutely agree how hard it was to watch but SO important and if it helps even one person out there to walk away from an abusive relationship then it’s worth it”.

It remains to be seen what happens next on the cobbles but some viewers think they have figured out Theo’s downfall…
