‘General Hospital’ Alum Jason Thompson Wants To Return for One Reason
The Young and the Restless star Jason Thompson revealed what makes him think about returning to General Hospital. Thompson played Patrick Drake on the ABC soap and was part of one of daytime’s most infamous supercouples for a decade.
Despite playing Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless for nearly 10 years, Thompson admitted in an interview with SWOON that he’s been thinking about Patrick a lot for one good reason.
Patrick and Robin’s (Kimberly McCullough) daughter Emma (Braedyn Bruner) resurfaced on General Hospital last year. In true soap fashion, the character was aged up, and that got Thompson thinking.
“It makes me a little bit jealous that I can’t be there with her a little bit, and it makes me want to know her,” he expressed before adding, “I think back on who that little girl has become, and I want to be a part of it. I want to learn what she loves. I want to know what our relationship is like. I want to know if she likes her dad or if he messed her up or what’s going on. It makes me think about all the possibilities of what could happen with her as an adult. I hear she’s doing great, too.”
No, Thompson isn’t planning on leaving The Young and the Restless to go back to General Hospital. The soap star was crystal clear that he hopes to be playing Billy for “30, 40 years.”
However, playing Patrick will always hold a special place in his heart. It was, after all, his big break in the acting world. Even though he can’t be there, Thompson still keeps tabs on what is happening with his former on-screen family.

“I’m just stoked that the Drakes are still happening. I mean, you have the cornerstone with Finola [Hughes, Anna Devane] there, and anything’s possible with her. So, I know that Emma is in good hands even though Robin and Patrick aren’t around as much right now,” Thompson said.
The actor also shared that he remains in contact with Brooklyn Rae Silzer, who originated the role of Emma when Thompson was on General Hospital. Silzer’s all grown up and left acting behind for a career in nursing.
Jason Thompson has nothing but fond memories of his time on the ABC soap, but is happy to keep calling The Young and the Restless home.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
