Emmerdale Jeff Hordley’s adapted home to cope with condition and other properties of stars
The soap stars of the fictional Yorkshire village lead luxurious lives away from the ITV show
The fictional Yorkshire village of Emmerdale is one of British television’s most recognisable settings. The wholesome farm has been anything but as it has been the second of some of TV’s most dramatic moments since Beckindale was rebranded in 1993.
2026 is set to be another dramatic year for the soap as it will get off to a bang with the Corriedale crossover with Coronation Street on January 5. An atmospheric trailer released by ITV has provided a glimpse into the aftermath of the crash on a dark and stormy country road near the village of Hotten.
The trailer has also confirmed some of the soap stars that will be appearing in the one hour crossover. Voices calling for helping as the emergency arrive reveal David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Liam Cavanagh (Johnny McPherson), and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) are among those that will feature. DS Lisa Swain star Vicky Myers has also been confirmed as part of the cast.
Thankfully the soap stars lead very different lives away from the screen and regularly share details on Instagram. We’ve taken a look at how our favourite soap actors live when they’re away from the familiar settings of the Yorkshire Dales.
Whether its Cain Dingle star, Jeff Hordley’s, rural retreat he shares with Zoe Henry or Isabel Hodgins home she shares with her new husband, the actors have given fans an insight into their lives off-screen through their social media channels. We’ve rounded up the most stunning homes from our favourite Emmerdale stars below.
Jeff Hordley

The actor best known for his portrayal of Cain Dingle shares a stunning home in the Yorkshire Dales with co-star Zoe Henry. Jeff suffers with Crohn’s disease and modified his diet to treat the illness after a nutritionist recommended he follow a strict detox and cut alcohol, sugar, meat, wheat and dairy from his diet.
To help cope with the new lifestyle, Jeff and Zoe have installed an allotment in their rural retreat and cook everything from scratch. Other updates shared on their social media channels show a minimalist living room with a cosy wood burning stove and large comfortable cushions.
Isabel Hodgins
The Victoria Sugden has enjoyed a year to remember as she married her partner Adam Whitehead and the two are preparing to welcome their first child together. The 32-year-old got engaged to Adam in 2023 and their romance has been going from strength to strength.
She was flooded with messages of support when she shared a snap of her new house keys in front of sparkling rose last April. She captioned the post: “We are FINALLY in!! Now I have to live with a smelly boy!”
Adam Thomas
The 37-year-old regularly thrills fans with update from his home. The Strictly Come Dancing contestant was renowned for his role as Adam Barton in Emmerdale before he quit the village in 2018.
Adam shares two children with his wife Caroline and regularly posts updates from his happy family life on Instagram. The actor lives in a stunning mansion, which they moved in to in 2023. Adam and Caroline shared a clip of the moment they landed the house last year with the caption: “Welcome to our new home, hard work starts now.”
Chris Bisson
The actor has played Jai Sharma on Emmerdale since 2009. The 50-year-old has been a mainstay in the Yorkshire village ever since and has been involved in some of the ITV show’s most dramatic storylines.
For the past few years, Chris has undertaken a renovation project to build their forever home. He said in 2022: “We’ve embarked on a little family adventure… Building our forever home! It’s been a long time in the planning and we are excited to finally be making a start. I’ll be posting updates to show you where we are up to.”
Chris has posted regular updates of the build as he has got involved to help out. However, he later issued a post to reveal the project is proving to be more expensive than he envisioned. He said: “There was a lot of money simply disappearing into the ground. Plus EVERYTHING is now a lot more expensive than when we were planning the project. The steel price went through the roof – up 60% – and that’s just one element.
“We’ll have to claw that back further down the line… So, in classic Grand Designs style, it’s already apparent that compromises will have to be made later.”
Danny Miller
The former I’m A Celebrity winner and his wife Steph Jones are the proud parents of three children and regularly share insights into their happy home life.
The Aaron Dingle star’s beautiful home has a farmhouse feel as the living room has a wood burning stove with an exposed brick fire place, wooden flooring and a brown leather sofa. The cosy vibe continues into the kitchen which is kitted out with cream cabinets and black marble worktops.
Amy Walsh
The Tracy Metcalfe star married Eastenders’ Toby Alexander-Smith in 2023 and the soap stars welcomed their first child into the world in 2021. The soap stars boasts a beautiful home as Amy gave an inside into their cosy front room earlier this month.
She said: “Christmas has arrived and so has our new sofa! We absolutely love it! Have bought pretty much every piece of furniture we own from @vintagesofa. Merry Christmas from The Smiths.”
They have previously provided a glimpse into a special nursey they built for daughter Bonnie. Amy said: “Our nursery is almost complete! It’s only taken 9 months since we moved in! We’re actually renting at the moment until we find our dream home so decorating was tricky. My sister @salsheps gave us this gorgeous patchwork quilt she made that I decided was too nice to be sicked on so thought I’d turn it into a wall hanging and I love it!!!
Jason Merrells
The 57-year-old actor is famous for his role as shrewd businessman Declan Macey, who he portrayed on the show from 2010 – 2014. Declan was never killed off from Emmerdale and fans regularly speculate when he could make his long awaited return.
Away from the screen, Jason has shared regular updates from his stunning countryside property, which he extended throughout last year’s lockdown. The house has a very rural feel, with wooden floors and floral furniture dotted about to give it a homely element.
But most impressive of all is the huge wooden treehouse in his back yard – built entirely by hand. Jason indulges in his passion for the arts at home and has his own studio – which is stocked with impressive canvas paintings and other arty equipment.
