ITV Emmerdale fans point out Ray detail that ‘makes no sense’

Villain Ray Walters joined Emmerdale earlier this year and has been part of a hard-hitting storyline

Emmerdale viewers have spotted a huge Ray Walters detail that ‘makes no sense’ on the hit ITV soap.

Drug dealer Ray, played by Joe Absolom, made his village debut earlier this year after being contacted by Mackenzie Boyd to buy a weed crop discovered at Lewis Barton’s home.

However, upon the arranged meeting, Ray met Robert Sugden instead and Robert, behind Mackenzie, Lewis and Ross Barton’s back, stole the cannabis plants and sold them onto Ray.

Ray was eager for more drugs but Robert insisted it was a one-off. Ray even sent ’employees’ Dylan Penders and another person to inspect Butlers Farm for more drugs or goods after thinking Robert was lying.

Since then, Ray’s true evil colours have been shown alongside his mother’s, who turned out to be Celia Daniels.

Ray and Celia have been manipulating Dylan and April Windsor under the pretence of repaying their so-called “debts”, a scheme designed to groom them into drug dealing.

The plot took a darker turn when Celia coerced April into attending two prostitution jobs, where she refused to sleep with the clients and attacked one of the people.

April thought she had killed them resulting in Ray and Celia, who knew the client was alive, using this detail to manipulate the teenager even more.

In recent scenes, Ray has struck up a romance with Laurel Thomas, even spending Christmas Day with her and her family. As their relationship progresses, viewers have pointed out a detail that ‘makes no sense’.

Soap watchers are wondering why no one has told or warned Laurel that Ray is a drug dealer, especially as both Mackenzie and Robert know his true character.

Taking to social media, one person said: “Ray first appeared as the buyer for the weed growing in Moiras barn. So was contacted by Ross Mack or Lewis. Why haven’t they given Laurel the heads up to what he is.”

To which a different account wrote: “That’s a very good point”, another put: “Surely Robert has seen Ray since. Or even Mac” while a different viewer added: “I had forgotten that. But you’re right. Makes no sense.”

Elsewhere, another soap wacher commented: “Ray has been in the coffee shop so Lewis must have seen him it was Lewis who started it all off with the cannabis!”, a different fan put: “Excellent point!” while another added: “That is a really good point !! X.”

However, other viewers pointed out: “Probably because it was only weed, they probably don’t know the full extent of what he does” while another wrote: “Because its just weed, I doubt they know he has April selling drugs or that he has paddys dad.”

Emmerdale continues on weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV and ITV X.
