General Hospital Recap: Drew is Framed, Britt Regrets Returning, Anna Suspects Willow and More!

On the September 15 episode of General Hospital, Drew (Cameron Mathison) tried to safeguard the documents he had in his safe — but thanks to Chase (Josh Swickard) and Anna’s (Finola Hughes) discovery, ADA Turner (Nazneen Contractor) advised him that it was too late. Meanwhile, Sonny (Maurice Benard) got some peace of mind from Brick (Stephen A. Smith), Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) got into a screaming match, and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) and Vaughn (Bryce Durfee) were reprimanded by Brennan (Chris McKenna). Keep on reading to see how that and more went down!

Drew summoned Martin to his hospital room and rehired him as his lawyer in exchange for getting the the insurance fraud charges against Stella dropped and having her reinstated at G.H. Then, Drew told Martin that he needed an injunction so the PCPD couldn’t search his safe and find the evidence that Portia tampered with test results. “You do realize that blackmail is a bad look on a sitting U.S. congressman, right? Some might even consider it a crime,” Martin drawled. Nodding his head, Drew stated that the attorney had better make sure the police never see that evidence.

After Justine left, Anna chastised Chase for his conduct in front of the ADA. “It confirmed for me everything that I’m concerned about. You are too emotionally invested in taking down Drew Cain,” she declared. Chase asserted that Drew had put Willow through hell, and she had a right to know if Drew had her kids taken away from her. Having a lightbulb moment, Anna wondered if Willow already knew, and that was potentially her motive for murder. Chase argued that Willow would never do something like that, and Anna warned him not to repeat her theory to anyone.

Live Wire

When Justine arrived at Drew’s ICU room, the cocky congressman insinuated she was responsible for his shooting since she refused to have Michael arrested for assaulting him. ADA Turner reminded him that the PCPD was investigating the attempted murder — she was there to discuss the contents of his safe. Referring to his lawyer’s injunction, a smug Drew refused to answer any questions, but Justine was delighted to inform him that the request was too late because his safe had already been searched. Drew was shocked when the ADA confronted him with evidence that he was behind the wire transfer to Judge Heran.

Back To Life, Back To Reality

Furious that Britt allowed her to believe she was dead while she was working on a top-secret research project, Obrecht lashed out, spitting that her daughter was cruel and selfish, just like her father. Nina tried to intervene as her aunt and cousin poked at emotional scars. “I am the monster you raised me to be!” Britt bellowed at her mom. With the WSB’s interference putting an end to her research, Britt asked her cousin for a loan, but Liesl forbade Nina from giving Britt any money. Growing emotional, Britt said she felt Mutter liked her better when she was dead. “That way, you could imagine me the way you wanted me to be, instead of having to deal with me as the person I actually am,” Britt cried. “You’re right,” Liesl countered, adding, “As far as I’m concerned, both of my children are dead. At least Nathan deserved my tears.” Following the blow from her mother, Britt stormed out. Liesl later admitted to Nina that she will always love her daughter, but could never forgive Britt for letting them believe she was dead.

The Protector

Sonny was meeting with Carly and Brick in the office at Pozzulo’s when Jason arrived. Carly was ticked at her best friend for not telling her where he’d been and was hurt that Sonny knew he’d gone chasing after Britt while she’d been left in the dark. After thanking Brick for the intel on the Five Poppies resort, Jason filled in Carly on how Britt’s death had been faked and that he brought her back to Port Charles. Then, it was Jason’s turn to get an update on what he missed while he was gone — like the restraining orders preventing Scout from seeing her family — and he wondered if Michael had an alibi for Drew’s shooting.

Once Carly left, Jason asked Sonny and Brick what was being done to make sure Michael was covered. Brick had a few ideas, but noted that it was going to be tricky to help Michael with an alibi after the fact. Then, Sonny told Jason how Danny and Rocco found Judge Heran’s dead body, and that he didn’t think it was a coincidence she was in the water by his piers. Jason’s mind immediately jumped to Sidwell being behind Heran’s murder, just as Sonny had suspected.

After Jason took off, Brick prepared to leave himself. But before he went, he promised Sonny that the evidence they planted would hold up under police scrutiny — leaving Drew with a lot of explaining to do. Brick also vowed that if authorities began looking to Michael as a suspect, his team would do whatever was necessary to make them stop.

Harboring A Grudge

As they waited on Pier 54 for the launch back to Spoon Island, Marco asked his father if he was responsible for Judge Heran’s death. Sidwell claimed that Marco killed the judge the moment he went behind his back and blabbed to Drew that she’d been bribed. Jenz added that Heran got rattled when a detective started asking questions about the Corinthos custody case, and he couldn’t have that kind of loose end. When Marco got upset that his father had gone to such an extreme, Sidwell shared that he didn’t make the decision lightly, but removing Heran was the only way to make sure that Sonny paid for Natalia’s suffering and ultimate death.

Jenz then chuckled that Marco’s firm was going to be busy over the next few weeks, with Diane and Alexis representing, knowing or being related to most of the suspects involved in Drew’s shooting. That prompted Marco to tell his dad that since Alexis was a suspect and was being represented by Diane, he’d been Michael’s attorney during the initial questioning, and Corinthos’s alibi was flimsy. Just as the launch approached the dock, Jenz made sure Judge Heran’s death was a closed subject with his son. Placing a firm hand on Marco’s shoulder, Sidwell warned his son, “Never betray me again.”

Later, Britt ended up at the empty pier after leaving Nina’s house. Still upset about the fight with her mom, she flashed back to a heartwarming moment they had shared before her birthday party the night that she “died.” Pulling her phone out of her purse, Britt grumbled that only her mother could make her miss Pascal. But before she could place the call, Jason arrived. When he asked if she was okay, Britt sighed that she was far from it. “It was a mistake coming back here,” she moaned. “It was a mistake coming back at all.”

One More Night

Across the world in Australia, Brennan was displeased that Josslyn and Vaughn had failed to get information from Britt or Pascal. He was also annoyed that the agents were romantically involved, insisting that their personal relationship clouded their judgment and led to Jason Morgan, a civilian, needing to rescue them. Vaughn shot back that if it weren’t for Colette, a double agent, working under Jack’s nose, they wouldn’t have been held captive to begin with. Rather than assigning them to opposite hemispheres, Brennan decided to keep both agents close to home: With Colette at the Hague being charged with treason, Jack promoted Vaughn to be his second in command, but he wanted Josslyn in place at PCU.

Next, Vaughn and Joss wondered how they would explain away to people in Port Charles that they “dated” — especially her mother — and Jack said it’s likely that Jason had already told Carly that Joss was an agent. Disagreeing, Joss noted that she asked Jason not to say anything, and she believed he wouldn’t spill her secret. If Jason did tell Carly, Brennan suggested, he’d have to inform her about the State Secrets Act and that she couldn’t let anyone know that Joss worked for the WSB. “Well, I highly doubt the State Secrets Act will be my mom’s first concern if she finds out I’m an agent, but I will throw myself over that bridge when the time comes,” Joss quipped.

Brennan then informed Joss and Vaughn that, now that the Five Poppies lab is gone, the WSB will refocus their investigation on Dalton and his dangerous cold fusion technology. He felt it was no coincidence that Britt is back in Port Charles, where Dalton is conducting his research, and told them they needed to figure out what the connection is between them. Joss wasn’t so sure there was a significant connection, but Brennan insisted that Britt was going to have to be debriefed and hopefully cooperate with them on what was going on at the Five Poppies. Before leaving, Brennan made sure Joss and Vaughn knew that their personal relationship was over — but gave them 24 more hours to spend together in the bungalow.
