Emmerdale’s forgotten feud – here’s why Graham Foster locked Ryan in a shed
Emmerdale‘s Graham Foster must face up to his chaotic past tonight – including the moment he callously locked Ryan Stocks in a shed. But how did the unlikely village feud kick off six years ago?
Friday’s episode sees the ITV soap air the long-awaited moment that Graham’s return from the dead becomes public knowledge among the local community. So far, only a handful of characters know that Graham is back – but he decides to change that by heading to The Woolpack for a quiet drink with Joe Tate.
Ryan and his mum Charity Dingle are among those present for Graham’s big moment – and it’s not long before conversation turns to tensions from 2020…
“While you were off busy playing Lazarus, Marlon actually got accused of your murder,” Charity complains. “And let’s not forget what you did to [Ryan].”

She adds: “Do you know what? Stuff six years being a corpse – you actually attacked my son. We could report you for that.”
Addressing Ryan, an emotionless Graham replies: “I am sorry I locked you in a shed.”
The storyline in question aired in January 2020, when computer expert Ryan struck up a secret alliance with Graham. At the time, Graham wanted to steal Kim Tate’s money ahead of his plans to start a new life with Rhona Goskirk away from the village.
Graham promised that he’d see Ryan’s half-brother Noah right if he got his hands on the cash. However, the unlikely partnership turned sour when Graham forced Ryan to arrange the final payment. He then held him captive so that he couldn’t tell Kim.
Charity rescued Ryan from one of the kayak huts at the outdoor pursuits centre. Once she heard what had happened, this made her a suspect in Graham’s dramatic murder-focused exit plot.
