Bradford Post Office featured in Emmerdale sells at auction

A Grade-II listed property that was used as a filming location for the TV soap Emmerdale has sold at auction after the guide price was reduced.

Bradford Council-owned 21 Main Street in the village of Esholt was listed in an online property auction for the second time at the end of February.

The property, which is currently home to a Post Office, was first put under the hammer in January with a £200,000 guide price, but failed to sell.

At an online property auction held by BTG Eddisons last week the guide price was reduced to £160,000 and it was sold for £175,000.

There is not likely to be any immediate change to the building, as the current tenants have a six-year lease that began in November.

Much of Emmerdale used to be filmed on location in the village until 1998, when filming moved to a set on the Harewood estate.

The identity of the buyer has not been revealed.
