An unexpected romance has been confirmed between a very unlikely Emmerdale village duo.

Viewers tuning in to Tuesday, 3 March episode, which is available on ITV X, got a surprise when two unlikely villagers decided to strike up a romance.

Soap watchers will recall that last year, Jai Sharma and Kerry Wyatt struck up a secret work fling. However, they soon decided to call things off as it was getting in the way of work. Since then, Kerry has married Eric Pollard in a tax scam.

With a romance looking off the cards for the duo, things took a surprising twist on Tuesday’s episode.

During the latest instalment, Jai was seen bent over in Café Main Street after losing an item to which Kerry walked in, where Nicola King teased her for ogling Jai to which Kerry quickly shut down her remarks.

However, later back at work, it appeared Kerry was checking out Jai. After calling Kerry into his office for making fun of him, Kerry said she was only performing the perfect lift of boxes to which she flirtingly said she could perform it again.

Kerry then admitted: “I was checking you out in the café earlier, so… it’s only fair that you do the same!” with Jai responding: “So that is what you were doing…”

After Kerry said “I saw you looking at us so we’re quits now, yeah”, Jai pulled her into a passionate embrace.

In spoilers for later in the week, it is revealed that Jai and Kerry are enjoying their secret workplace romance.

However, despite the physical fun they are having Jai isn’t sure how much to maintain their boss and employee dynamic in public.

Meanwhile, Kerry appears to have figured out the best way to have their office romance as she mocks Jai in public to stop any rumours while secretly looking forward to their next hookup. But will Jai be okay with this? And as the week ends… there’s a near miss for Jai and Kerry!
