Jacob Gallagher has experienced a turbulent romantic journey on Emmerdale, and in real life actor Joe Warren-Plant has endured his own share of heartache.

Actor Joe-Warren became part of the ITV soap as Jacob in 2010 – and since then he’s been at the centre of numerous major storylines. From experiencing grooming to losing his mum Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) in the limo crash last year, his stint in the Dales has been packed with drama.

Particularly now, as a sinister new storyline has recently begun involving trainee doctor Jacob and his superior Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker), with the plot examining workplace harassment and power imbalances.

Jacob’s also experienced plenty of romantic entanglements on the soap, including his present wife Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).

‘Difficult’ separation from model partner

Joe-Warren was romantically linked with model Nicole Hadlow from 2017 until 2021. The couple were cohabiting when Joe-Warren chose to move out of their joint residence as he began preparing for Dancing on Ice.

It was claimed at the time that the demanding schedule and pressure of training strained their relationship, resulting in their separation.

Speaking about the breakup at the time, Joe told The Sun: “Dancing on Ice has come at a good time for me physically and mentally.

“Relationships are hard to kind of deal with. It has helped to take my mind off of it slightly, having to focus and train all day every day. Even when you’re not training and you’re at home you’ve got to take the recovery aspect into terms.

“It’s helped taking my mind off it, but things are still tough to be fair.”

Dancing on Ice romance rumours

Joe-Warren was also romantically linked to his Dancing on Ice partner and co-star Vanessa Bauer at the time – something he denied.

“With a show like Dancing On Ice it’s about telling a story to engage with the audience and the judges,” he said.

“So you have to have a certain level of chemistry between you and your partner, so I think everyone has seen we are getting on so well and assumed there is something going on.

“But there isn’t, we are just dedicated to the show, we are trying to do the best we possibly can.”

‘Very sad’ break up

After parting ways with Nicole, Joe-Warren made his relationship with new model girlfriend Anna Norton official on Instagram in 2022. The couple reportedly purchased a property in Blackpool in 2022 and they shared a cat together.

However, their relationship encountered difficulties in 2024 and the pair ended things after two years.

A source told The Sun: “Joe and Anna are over, it’s very sad but they are still very young. It hasn’t been the amicable split they were hoping for and they aren’t speaking now at all.”

Smitten with new girlfriend

Several months following his break up with Anna, Joe-Warren revealed his new romance with Isabella in January 2025.

The actor reposted an image of himself and Isabella that she had originally shared on her own Instagram account. In the photograph, the besotted pair struck a pose for a mirror selfie together.

Growing ever stronger, Joe-Warren and Isabella have since enjoyed multiple sun-drenched getaways together. Last year, they travelled to Barcelona and captured their adventure with numerous romantic photographs.
