He’s also played a part in several big storylines too. From his romance with cousin Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to his affair and subsequent relationship with Moira (Natalie J. Robb), his time in the Dales has not been short of drama.

Especially at the moment, as recently, Cain found out that he had an aggressive, yet localised, prostate cancer, after he was shot in the epic Corriedale crossover episode in January.
After learning about his diagnosis, Cain only spoke about it to his granddaughter, Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), and his friend and local GP, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).
As well as his cancer diagnosis, Cain has also been dealing with wife Moira’s (Natalie J Robb) wrongful imprisonment. And with his prostate surgery scheduled for next month, this week, Cain finally told Moira the truth about his cancer.
However, fans can’t help but think Cain will end up getting killed off following his cancer battle. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one heartbroken person said: “Anyone else think Cain is going to die?” Another added: “Yeah you never know what will happen, I really hope not”. A third chimed in: “Noooo not Cain.”

“I feel fortunate because my family has not been affected by the disease and thankfully a health check I had a few years ago, which included my prostate, was fine.
“But filming this storyline has made me realise how sobering the disease can be and how it affects so many. It’s so important if you are in a higher risk category to get tested. As soon as I have my next day off, I am going to be making an appointment with my GP to have a PSA test.”
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX
