Kerry Wyatt will be angered by Jai Sharma as their affair plot takes an unexpected turn on Emmerdale. The pair have been conducting a secret arrangement – though haven’t done the best job of hiding it, with rumours spreading around the village.

In new scenes set to air next week, Kerry is taken aback at the depot when she’s called into Caleb’s office, where she is told off by boss Jai.

Of course, the pair want to cover their tracks from Caleb, though Kerry is angered when Jai is especially harsh towards her.

Could their romance be about to turn sour?

“Kerry and Jai need to maintain their cover of hating each other – but this may be taking things too far,” our Emmerdale source said. “Could Jai mess up by being a little too good at pretending that he’s annoyed over Kerry’s work?”

One person on their case is Kerry’s husband Eric, who is married to her for tax evasion reasons. After rumours spread around the village, Archie gave Eric a heads-up about Kerry’s infidelity, and after doing some digging around, he discovered some concrete evidence.

“Knowing this secret is the perfect bargaining tool for Eric,” our Emmerdale insider said. “He could use this to blackmail them – but he’s certainly no fan of Jai, so he won’t be thrilled his wife is cheating with him, of all people.”

They added: “Both Jai and Kerry are putting their jobs on the line. If their workplace affair becomes public knowledge, they could get into serious trouble. Not only that, Eric and Kerry could get done for fraud. How far will the smitten pair go to keep their relationship under wraps?”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
