Actor Chris Coghill will be making his Emmerdale debut on Monday (September 29) as Kev Townsend. The ITV soap have kept their cards close to their chest when it comes to this new character, with little known about him.
Next week, Robert is soon stunned to answer a knock at the door to a familiar face. Checking no-one on the street is watching, he allows the mystery man in. This mystery man is clearly an acquaintance from prison.
Victoria walks in and sees Robert holding hands with a man who isn’t Aaron. She’s confused. After finally getting rid of him Robert knows he’s in for a grilling from his sister.
Emmerdale Producer, Laura Shaw, said: “We are delighted that someone of Chris’ calibre has joined our cast. I think the viewers will be intrigued to see how the character of Kev will cause shockwaves this autumn.
“Kev has a strong connection to one of our characters and it’s safe to say his arrival is going to be a massive surprise that will have major repercussions for some of our villagers.”

The star is no stranger to appearing on the small screen, with roles including The Bay, Slow Horses and Shameless.
Upon joining the ITV cast, Chris gushed: “I am really happy to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Kev is definitely going to shake things up a bit and I’m looking forward to getting cracking!”
During Friday’s (September 26) installment, Robert was trying his best to stay away from Aaron Dingle while he recovers from the trauma of John Sugden.

However, Aaron tried to kiss him – a scene many viewers have been waiting for.
Robert turned Aaron down gently, saying that he’ll help him but as mates. As Aaron questioned: “You’re the one who’s chased me since you got out of prison, and now all of a sudden you’re not interested?”
A frustrated Robert responded: “Trust me, I’ve never wanted you more”. While there may be a small glimmer of hope for Robron, Robert received a text from Kev that read: “Stop ignoring me. Call me, K”.
On a Reddit thread, u/feisty_jellyfish5225 teased: “here comes trouble” as u/rochey1010 wrote: “Robert’s PTSD plot ramping up and I can’t wait. Obviously it’s gonna suck for Robert but Ryan is gonna have so much material to mine with this and break us.”
u/environmental-tea-48 added: “I wasn’t expecting for Robert and Aaron to get on good terms so quickly. It was really nice and very sensible of them not to rush into anything. Unfortunately, I doubt that Robron will continue to be friendly once K turns up”.
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
