GH Recap: Tracy Honors Monica, Drew Vows Revenge, And A Stranger Arrives

On the September 26 episode of General Hospital, Tracy (Jane Elliot) made sure Drew (Cameron Mathison) knew he was persona non grata at Monica’s (Leslie Charleson) memorial service, then shared an emotional tribute to her late sister-in-law. Following the service, as the dearly departed’s friends and family continued celebrating Monica at the mansion, Drew vowed revenge for being rejected, and a mysterious visitor (Erika Slezak) arrived at the Quartermaine crypt! See how it all played out below.

As Monica’s memorial service drew to a close, Michael invited those gathered back to “Monica’s house” and asked if anyone else wanted to speak. The Quartermaines all looked to Tracy, who shook her head. Then, the doors to the church opened suddenly, and Drew rolled himself in! Everyone was shocked as Drew rolled his wheelchair to the front of the church and declared, “My name is Drew Quartermaine, and I am here to honor my mother, Monica.” Jason jumped up to remove his twin, but Tracy took control and sneered that Drew’s last name was Cain, he was of no relation to Monica, and he was not welcome at the memorial service. Seething, Drew grumbled that Monica considered him a son, so he had every right to be there, but Tracy snapped that he’d forfeited that right when he broke Monica’s heart — and then, to the delight of the crowd, she wheeled him out of the church! “Your presence is neither required nor desired. In fact, it’s detested,” she snarled once they were in the foyer.

Never Say Good-Bye

“That felt good,” Tracy crowed as she reentered the church. She then got melancholy as she revealed that she should probably “say something nice about my sister-in-law,” but she’d been trying to avoid it. With a nod of encouragement from Jason, Tracy stepped up to the pulpit. “Okay,” she whispered, her voice gathering strength as she continued. “But I’m going to try. Because I know if I don’t, I’m going to regret it. Because…Because…” she trailed off, stumbling over her words. Inhaling deeply, Tracy then opened up her arms and pronounced with a smile, “Monica means that much to me.” Recapping their complicated history and how she initially felt Monica was beneath the Quartermaines, Tracy recalled that Monica gave as good as she got. “And somewhere between, during, or because of our epic battles, I grew to respect her. In fact, that respect grew to love.”

As Tracy emotionally spoke about the love Monica had for her family, many seated in the church wiped tears from their eyes, and Brook Lynn and Gio shared a look across the aisle. “My brother made her my sister-in-law, but she became my sister.” Turning to Monica’s portrait, Tracy choked on a sob as she concluded her speech. “So, my sister, looks like I’m the last one standing. But don’t you worry: That house is yours,” she announced, earning laughs from the group. “Alan gave it to you. And as long as I’m alive, I promise you, it will stay that way,” Tracy vowed.

Bad Blood

Back at G.H., Martin was shocked to see Drew back so soon. Drew moaned about how things had changed since Monica was by his side when Oscar died, and Martin pointed out that the family was angry about Drew’s part in Michael and Willow’s breakup. Drew groused that the Qs live for a good fight but then always come back together, so the fact that he’d been publicly shunned made it clear that he wasn’t considered a true member of the family and never would be. When Drew claimed that his desire to protect Monica was the only reason he hadn’t told the police that Michael was the one who shot him, a suspicious Martin questioned if he’d remembered who shot him. “I don’t remember a damn thing. But the police don’t have to know that,” Drew retorted, vowing that he’d go as far as necessary to make Michael pay for everything he’d taken from him. Martin suggested that Drew’s fury was redirected at the wrong person, since Tracy had been the one who demanded he change his name, but Drew raged that Tracy deserved to suffer as well.

Miss You Forever

Arriving at the Quartermaines’ for the reception, Laura joked to Tracy that Monica probably got a kick out of the way she’d ejected Drew from the church. Brook Lynn confessed to Dante that she wasn’t yet ready to forgive her mom, but Lois had been a big help in finding Tracy at the casino the night before. They also agreed that it was nice to see that Gio had attended the memorial service, even if he was still angry with them.

Out on the patio, Jason revealed to Lulu that he was socially exhausted but intended to stick around because of all the times he wasn’t there. Lulu assured Jason that even when he wasn’t physically at the house, Monica made sure his presence was felt. Later, Laura joined her daughter outside and declared that she was a better person because of Monica. Lulu enveloped her mother in a hug as the mayor cried over how much she missed her friend.

Elsewhere in the house, Michael thanked Drew and Chase for putting the Drew investigation on pause to be there for the family, and Tracy lamented to Stella that her loved ones keep leaving her. Then, just as Stella reminded Tracy that she is surrounded by a crazy family that adores her, Gio arrived. Tracy was touched when Gio shared that the memorial had given him a new perspective on his situation, and seeing how the Qs banded together made him proud to be a part of the family and her great-grandson.

Making Progress

Having given the staff the day off, Olivia manned the kitchen, cooking all of Monica’s favorites. As news traveled that Gio had arrived, Olivia swore to Dante that his son’s presence was a step in the right direction. Dante hesitantly approached his son in the living room, but sensing that one of his parents wanted to chat, Gio quickly offered his condolences to Ned as he walked by. When Ned said that he’d love to connect sometime if Gio was up for it, he took the opening to chat with his grandfather about their shared passion for music. From across the room, Brook Lynn smiled as she spotted her son and father laughing. Later, Gio joined Ned, Olivia, Michael, and Jason in the kitchen, where they regaled him with stories of Monica. Brook Lynn was disappointed when Gio left without having any sort of meaningful conversation with her, but Chase reminded his wife that Gio’s showing up at all was a baby step.

Alone in the foyer, Tracy looked over the collection of framed family photos on the console table, then sneaked out the front door. After all the guests left, Ned, Olivia, Brook Lynn, Chase, Michael, and Jason gathered in the living room to toast Monica’s memory, and Jason silently stepped out into the foyer with his drink to tearfully said a private good-bye to his mother on the staircase.

Following a montage of scenes featuring Monica and Charleson through the years, Laura, Stella, Felicia, Portia, and Elizabeth gathered at the Memorial Wall of the hospital to hang Dr. Quartermaine’s portrait. “You worked so hard. Now rest,” Laura told her dear friend.

Stranger In Town

Approaching the Quartermaine crypt, Tracy was surprised to see the door ajar. She entered the mausoleum and snapped at the woman standing there. “Who are you, and why the hell are you trespassing?” Turning around, the woman (Erika Slezak, making her GH debut) replied, “You must be Tracy Quartermaine,” and introduced herself as someone who’d been waiting quite a while to meet her.
