Emmerdale’s PC Swirling star shares huge career update after 21 years on ITV soap
Emmerdale’s PC Mike Swirling has been a regular in the village for 21 years
Emmerdale’s PC Mike Swirling has remained a staple of the ITV soap opera since 2004.

The character, who made his debut two decades ago in April 2004, has featured in numerous major plotlines throughout the years, playing a key role in apprehending countless village criminals.

Nevertheless, beyond his work on the popular ITV drama, PC Swirling’s portrayer Andy Moore, who goes by his real name Andy Whitaker, has been chasing another creative endeavour – music.

Andy is set to launch an album on Friday 24th October alongside Michael Reed, entitled The Black and White Detective and The Technicolour Cowboy.
The pair of musicians first crossed paths shortly before the coronavirus outbreak, when they both contributed to the late Chameleons performer John Lever’s Red Sided Garter Snakes project, reports the Daily Star.

Following their successful partnership, the pair discovered they resided at opposite ends of the same road and have since joined forces to produce their own record together.
The Black and White Detective and The Technicolour Cowboy will showcase 13 compositions.
The release encompasses their inaugural single Out And About, alongside Don’t You Love Me, Mr Potatohead (Woozy Psychedelia), The River, Watching The Rain and Here.

Supporters have already begun expressing their enthusiasm, with one individual posting: “Great song can’t wait x”.
Another user commented: “Looking forward to it” whilst a third remarked: “Can’t wait for this, Andy! (or do you prefer Whit? )”, continuing: “Great gothy textures and sounds, but what really struck me is your songwriting at the heart of it all. Cheers x.”

In 2022, Andy took to his Facebook page to share his latest musical achievement with his followers, posting a YouTube video of indie band Courting that showcased his work.
Beyond Emmerdale, Andy has graced the small screen in a variety of television shows, including Sky Peals in 2023, Fred and Marv in 2021, The Bill in 2007, The Royal in 2006 and Dream Team in 2002.

He also made a brief appearance on Coronation Street in 2005, playing a driver for two episodes.
Five years later, he returned to the famous cobbles, this time in the role of a photographer.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm with episodes available to watch earlier on ITVX.
