B&B Hints At Potential Circle Back To Liam Shooting Luna

Luna surprising Finn with a rise from the grave on The Bold and the Beautiful came with an unexpected line on Tuesday, October 7’s episode. When her father mentioned she’d shot both Sheila and Liam, Luna fired back that it was Liam who shot her. And she’s not wrong. While fans championed the Spencer heir’s actions, he did shoot Finn’s daughter when she was unarmed. That part of the story hasn’t been properly dealt with. Luna bringing it up could be the daytime drama’s way of opening the door to finally tie up that loose end in the plot.

Key takeaways

  • Liam is the only person who deliberately shot someone the day he and Luna nearly died
  • Luna being alive is an opportunity for Liam to work through his complicated feelings on taking a life
  • Liam may find Luna using him to stay out of jail

Lingering Guilt

B&B hasn’t explored Liam’s (Scott Clifton) role in Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) shooting much. Every time the topic is broached, it’s immediately stated that he did what needed to be done. But the set-up for the scene tells a different story. Yes, at the time that Liam shot her, she was lunging for the gun, but he wasn’t aware she was going to do that. He’d fired because Luna was taunting him because she thought he wouldn’t pull the trigger.

Liam thought he was going to die anyway. If the gunshot wound to the chest didn’t do him in, then the brain cancer would. Not thinking he’d survive to wrestle with taking a life himself, Liam attempted murder to protect his family. Removing Luna from their lives would mean he could die knowing Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was safe.

But surviving the GSW and learning that he wasn’t dying from brain cancer after all did leave Liam contending with some level of guilt. Not because he didn’t believe Luna should be six feet under, but because he was the person who decided to put her there. Liam is a pacifist and, while Hope (Annika Noelle) assured him that he didn’t do anything wrong, it doesn’t change the fact that he went against his own principles.

B&B hasn’t circled back to his feelings on the matter, but Luna’s “resurrection” and pregnancy with his brother’s child is the perfect opportunity to do so.

Another Get Out Of Jail Free Card?

Liam may not feel he owes Luna anything after nearly killing her, but Luna likely won’t feel the same. She’ll stand ten toes down on her right to shame him for shooting her in the gut. Whether she plays the victim or lords his actions over him would depend on the situation, but it’s hard to believe she won’t make a snide comment or two.

Luna loves getting under people’s skin, especially when she feels slighted or wronged. When it comes to Liam, the easiest way to do so would be to offer her forgiveness when he didn’t ask for it. She might even be sincere about it at first. Trust her to spin it into an example of how they aren’t so different. She took two lives, and he tried to take hers. While they aren’t on an even playing field, Liam does now know what it’s like to look someone in the eye and decide their life is forfeit. That’s a heavy feeling to carry, one Luna wouldn’t be above exploiting.

While trying to press charges would be laughable given the circumstances, that doesn’t mean Luna couldn’t use his actions as leverage. They both know, as do Steffy and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown), that shooting her wasn’t a last resort. And that the story they told the police doesn’t quite match up with what happened. Their flubbing of the facts and attempting to cover up the truth could very well keep her out of prison if her baby can’t.
