Days of Our Lives’s Blake Berris And Busy Philipps Make Red Carpet Debut At 2025 Daytime Emmys
While Blake Berris did not win the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actor statuette at the Daytime Emmys after scoring his first nomination in the category for playing Everett Lynch on Days of Our Lives, it was still a monumental evening for the star: He made his red carpet debut with his new real-life love interest, Busy Phillipps (ex-Audrey, Dawson’s Creek).

The blossoming romance between Philipps — an actress, talk show host and author — and Berris was confirmed by People, and the pair had also been photographed together on October 16, attending the season 2 premiere party for the Netflix series Nobody Wants This.

Berris tied the knot with Alexandra McGuinness, a writer and director, in August 2017. In 2019, they welcomed their first son, Lir. While awaiting the birth, Berris told Soap Opera Digest, “I am really excited. We’re both very ready for it, as ready as we can be. I’m sure it’s gonna kick my ass in all the ways that everybody tells me that it does. We’re both excited to bring a boy into this world and make him the happiest person we can help him become.” He praised his wife’s strength, saying, “Alex has had a kind of tough pregnancy. She’s just been such a warrior through it. I think in a way, it’s helped both of us. Our lives have already changed a lot since we knew this was something that was happening. I think at this point, having a baby sounds better than being pregnant.”
The following year, Berris updated Digest about how they chose the name Lir. “My wife is Irish and it’s an Irish name,” he explained. “It’s a figure in Irish mythology. Lir is either the sea itself or the god of the sea, depending on which literature you’re looking at. We just liked it. It was one of those names that just kind of stuck around for a long time. I think we actually started putting a list together when we were on our honeymoon. It was just one of those ones that survived the test of time, I guess. It was a keeper. He was born and we couldn’t figure it out for a couple of days. We didn’t want to leave the hospital without a name because it gets complicated.”
Berris and McGuinness further expanded their family with the birth of twin boys. “So it’s a madhouse, as you can imagine” he told Digest in 2023 upon his return to DAYS as Everett. “My son Lir is wonderful, and his brothers, Naoise,” pronounced Nischa, “and Beau, are insane and I love them.”
There is no word on when the couple split.
