Emmerdale fans ranked sly John Sugden’s exit from the show yesterday as ‘anti-climatic’ – yet after tonight’s episode, some don’t think he is really gone for good.

Emmerdale’s latest episode had fans bemused, after John seemed to slip away seemingly unscathed on Wednesday, assisted by Caleb. Considering he had Aaron Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd in hospital – as well being the crook behind a slew of other scandals – fans watched the fallout as Caleb helped John go on the run.

In tonight’s episode, poor Aaron was left searching for answers in a heated confrontation with Caleb.

As Aaron grew furious at Caleb’s news, fans took to X with @AnnieSugden75 saying: ” I don’t care, telling Aaron that is of no use to situation. If he’s alive he can do damage.”

Meanwhile, others thought that the outburst was not enough – and that John’s exit was far too anti-climatic.

@85Mimi04 said: “We went through months of watching a storyline we wanted to rap up fast. Then it finally does and they end it like that. Reason why I don’t really watch soaps to began with. They p***me off with storylines like with John. Do better Emmerdale.”

@Itt39354118 said: ” I can’t believe John’s gone and we’re still stuck with Jai. Surely they could have come up with an excuse for John to kill him!”

Yet some fans were not entirely convinced that we have really seen the end of John – although only time will tell if he really is set to return.

@niallhoran said: “I presume that’s sadly not the last we’ve seen of John (and his never-ending threats about Anthony, who sadly is clearly not dead).”

Meanwhile, @topgooner100 said: “Bet john comes back” and @Itt39354118 agreed: “There’s no way that’s the end of John it’s too dull He’ll crawl back at some point no doubt.”
