Emmerdale fans in disbelief as they only just learn Rodney Blackstock star’s real age
Emmerdale viewers have been left stunned after discovering the true age of Rodney Blackstock actor Patrick Mower.

Taking to social media on Friday, 12th September, numerous soap enthusiasts were quick to mark the star’s birthday, leaving fans astounded by his youthful appearance.
One devoted viewer posted on Facebook: “happy 87th birthday wishes to Patrick mower have a fantastic day.”
Countless followers rushed to reply to the message, expressing their amazement that Patrick is 87 years of age.
One person exclaimed: “Give over 87! ! ! ! ! ! He looks amazing for that age! ! ! ! Happy birthday”, whilst another account commented: “Happy birthday you don’t look a day old”, with someone else adding: “Looks good on it … Happy Birthday Patrick” as a different admirer noted: “He looks amazing for his age.”, reports the Daily Star.

It’s not only soap devotees who reckon Patrick appears younger, as the performer himself mistakenly thought he was born later than he actually was, having spent years convinced he arrived in 1940.
In his 2007 memoir, Patrick revealed he spent years believing his birth year was 1940, but subsequently learnt that his birth wasn’t properly recorded and he was actually born on 12th September in 1938.
Patrick, who marks his 87th birthday today (Friday 12th September), has remained a cornerstone of Emmerdale as Rodney Blackstock since 2000, and will mark 25 years in the Yorkshire village next month.

Rodney has experienced numerous marriages and dramatic plot lines on the ITV drama, including relationships with Diane Sugden and Maureen Blackstock.
His on-screen offspring include Bernice Blackstock, Paul Lambert and Nicola King. Beyond Emmerdale, Patrick is recognised for his appearances in programmes such as Target, Marco Polo, Whodunnit? and Special Branch – amongst others.

Whilst Rodney serves as the village’s resident lothario, Patrick has actually been wed to spouse Anya Pope since 1996 and together they share son Maxim. She is nearly 30 years younger than him, yet Patrick has never viewed this age difference as an issue.
He previously commented: “Maxim and Anya are my life, I keep fit with exercise, swimming, golf and tennis so I don’t see age as a problem.”
Anya represents Patrick’s second marriage, as he was formerly wed to Audrey Giles with whom he has two offspring, Simon and Claudia.
In 1998, Patrick spoke candidly to Bucks Free Press regarding fatherhood later in life.
With his son Maxim being merely seven months old at the time, he remarked: “I am enjoying the whole thing. It is so wonderful, especially when you are an older father, you appreciate the actual wonder of a baby.
“His tiny fingers and nails and the way he changes almost daily in his growth. It is a thing of joy.”
