Emmerdale fans spot why John Sugden can’t exit soap in ‘justice’ plea

Viewers don’t want John to leave before one of his buried crimes comes to light

Emmerdale fans are asking for John Sugden to not depart the soap quite yet, as they demand “justice” for one villager in particular.

John Sugden’s reign of terror has only just been exposed to the villagers who branded him a “hero” mere weeks ago. Now, almost everyone has polished their pitchforks, hoping to make him pay for his harrowing list of crimes.

Mackenzie Boyd, who was held captive in an underground war bunker after being shot through the chest by the villain, was seemingly conflicted after John was also the one who took him to the hospital so he wouldn’t die.

Meanwhile, Aaron Dingle has been struggling to not blame himself as he recalled the number of red flags he let slip by for the sake of being in love with John.

As for the villain himself, John was skulking around the village seemingly unbothered by the police swarming around looking for him.

With a syringe in hand, it appeared as though Robert would be his next victim, but he changed his mind after hearing Victoria saying he wouldn’t know what to do without him.

Instead, he showed up at the depot and blackmailed Caleb Miligan with the location of Anthony Fox’s body in return for getting him out of the country.

In episodes that followed, Cain Dingle tried to put a stop to their deal, determined that he would kill John after learning that he had murdered his son Nate Robinson.

Unfortunately for Cain, he was hit over the head by Caleb who was scared that John’s scheduled email to the police about Anthony would mean time in prison for Ruby.

Instead, he stuck to his word and took John to the ferry port ready for a fresh start away from the village.

However, some fans were in agreement that he can’t leave until Mackenzie Boyd receives justice. Viewers may recall that Mack was blamed for the slurry tank leak on the farm that caused Victoria’s son Harry to become ill, and the lake being dredged after it affected the village water supply.

The financial complications this has caused for Moira has left Mack racked with guilt – although we know that it was John who did it in order to pin the blame on Mack.

On a Reddit thread, u/lllikesthings wrote: “He, very frustratingly, hasn’t confessed to the slurry leak and I am worried that he is going to go away without that coming out. John needs to have left some kind of massive confession or clue that he was responsible for it.

“At least they know that John was responsible for some (if not all) of the Ella stuff. Hopefully, they can piece the rest together and clear her name.”

u/lylith8 added: “I also want to see Mack vindicated for that spill.”

However, u/gardenawe pointed out: “I think they can’t reveal that John was behind the slurry leak because it resulted in Moira’s money issues and maybe losing the farm . And without that plot point Moira would have no need to be in a partnership with Celia.”

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
