Emmerdale fans ‘work out’ the ‘only way’ Mackenzie Boyd will be saved

It’s been a nerve-wracking week for Emmerdale viewers as John Sugden spiralled

Emmerdale fans believe they’ve worked out how Mackenzie Boyd will finally be “saved” from captivity.

Mackenzie Boyd has found himself in quite the predicament during recent episodes. After a blazing row with Charity Dingle took place when he struggled to support her decision to be Sarah Sugden’s surrogate, Mack decided to get the train to London for a party.

However, he never arrived in the big smoke. Instead, John Sugden has been holding him captive in an underground bunker just outside the village.

In a twist of events, Mack found a clue linking John to Nate Robinson’s death. John had accidentally killed him last year when attempting to “save” him.

After dumping his body in the lake, he organised Ben to come and pretend to move Nate’s belongings to Shetland where everyone thought he had started his new life.

He then pinned the death on Owen through a carefully crafted suicide note after Nate’s body was found in the lake.

Mack flicked through a scrapbook in John’s van and found a photo of John with Ben. After putting two and two together, a nerve-wracking chase ensued, which saw John actively pursuing Mack through the woods. There was a moment of relief when it appeared that Mack might just get away.

Unfortunately, John shot Mack through the chest with an arrow and broke his leg. Since then, Mack managed to finally escape from the bunker but John soon caught up with him.

During Monday’s (September 8) installment, while Mack is assumed to be in the bunker again, after John threw himself and Aaron off a cliff, no one else knows he’s there.

When it comes down to who may save Mack, fans have a theory that Mack’s phone will save him when the police come to investigate Robert’s claims. On a Reddit thread, u/Ok_Echo_1252 suggested: “I wonder if Aaron still has Mack’s phone on him or if it’s at the cottage.

“If it’s either of those things (and John doesn’t get up and nick it off Aaron before the police get there), and if they don’t realize that the most recent voice note was generated with AI, then they’ll know Mack was still alive within the past couple of days, which should give them more urgency than if they think it’s been weeks.”

u/leather-net7998 added: “The police should have to search the cottage and look through Johns laptops/ phones because of Roberts accusations, even if they don’t initially believe him, so maybe they will see the outdoor camera link that are monitoring the bunker? Maybe see some footage that will lead them to Mack.

And if Aaron still has Macks phone on his person then maybe that will indicate foul play to the police and lead to a search anyway.

“The bunker doesn’t seem far from the cottage and if the police do a comb through the woods then there would be a good chance of them finding the camera and the hatch.”
