Take a look at Emmerdale legend Charley Webb like you probably never seen her have before.

Charley Webb, 38, is known to millions of Emmerdale fans as Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap. She has appeared in nearly 2,000 episodes of the show. Charley was last seen as Debbie, in Emmerdale, back in 2021.

Since her exit, Charley has appeared in TV shows The Last Shadow and Better as well as on the stage in production Quiz – the play based on the infamous Who Wants to be a Millionaire? cough scandal.

Charley is currently enjoying a theatre role in The Ladies Football Club. She is appearing as part of the cast in the world premiere stage adaptation of The Ladies Football Club by Stefano Massini. It is being presented at The Crucible Theatre in Sheffield – the play will run until Saturday, March 28. You can find out more and buy tickets here.

Set at a time when the First World War forced men onto the front line to fight, the women of Sheffield take their place in the factories, constructing the bombs and the bullets.

When they start kicking a football around on their lunch breaks, audiences will see it soon becomes clear that it’s not just positions on a factory floor these women can fill – it’s on the football pitch too.

4 of 6Charley Webb said: “I enjoy football, I’ve always liked it, I was really interested in the story. I think it is something that not a lot of people know. There are not a lot of people who know that women’s football was banned for such a long time. It was only brought back in the 1970s – which is not long ago.

“So, it is about telling a story. Particularly as women’s football is so huge at the moment. It is something which will be fun to do.”

5 of 6Charley added: “I think, actually, it isn’t going to be what people expect. I don’t think it is even what I expected – it is very physical. I think there’s something in there for everyone. There’s a lot of comedy in it. There’s a real female feel and I think people are going to really enjoy it – a whole spectrum of people.”
