Emmerdale is set to be anything but calm and collected this new year and Kim Tate appears to be at the centre of all the drama – where she belongs.

Last Christmas, Kim was left devastated when her husband Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) dropped dead in her living room following their ongoing spat.

There was another surprise in the Dales as Kim’s step-grandson Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) made an unexpected visit six years after his exit.

However, it appears that this festive season and the new year will be anything but joyful, as drama is set to land on her doorstep once more.

Ahead of the Christmas episode, Kim Tate star Claire King has opened up on what viewers can expect from Home Farm and teased action-packed drama for 2026.

She has also confirmed a tough time ahead for her character and her close friend, Lydia Dingle (played by Karen Blick).

Claire explained: “Kim has rather an action packed Christmas coming up with Lydia and Kim’s friendship tested to the limit.

“Filming Christmas always starts in October, so by the time we finish the real one, it’s been three months long, so it does drag on a bit.

“But it can be a happy time, or it can be a disastrous time, as there’s usually a birth or a death at this time of year.”

She added, “It is always lovely to be involved in the Christmas episode, because it’s usually quite a dramatic one.

“So it’s always quite good fun to film, because everyone’s kind of in a jolly mood, even though it’s not actually Christmas, it’s October. And there’s always drama at this time of year.”

However, Christmas isn’t the only time Kim is expected to get pulled into explosive drama as the chaos continues into the new year.

Claire explained: “I’m looking forward to a break at Christmas. I think we are all looking forward to it.

“I will need a break as there’s more drama in store for Kim, in the New Year, and this could turn her world upside down. It’s all very, very exciting and very secretive.”

Claire also suggested Kim needs to toughen up. She confirmed, “New Year’s resolutions for Kim would be to get a new Holland Cooper wardrobe. That’d be lovely to get some more riding in.

“That would be very nice as well. And for her to trust people less, she’s gone a bit too soft recently.”
