General Hospital on the Couch: Why Drew Is Really So Angry at Danny
General Hospital’s Drew really went off on Danny and Rocco, to the point where both Laura and Ronnie had to intervene. He was completely inappropriate, not just because he sounded like a foaming at the mouth lunatic, but because the targets of his ire were a pair of teen-agers, especially Scout’s brother, Danny. Drew may think he’s just protecting his daughter. Danny may think Drew is taking his anger about Jason out on his son. But we’ve put Drew on the couch to suss out the real reason Danny makes him so furious.
Key Takeaways
- Drew was once married to Danny’s mom, Sam.
- Drew thought he was Jason.
- As Jason, Drew and Sam raised Danny together.
A Long Time Ago in a Port Charles Far, Far Away

When Drew (then played by the late Billy Miller) first came to Port Charles, he thought he was Jason (Steve Burton). As Jason, Drew reunited with the love of his life, Sam (Kelly Monaco), and their son, Danny (Asher Antonyzyn). The three lived as a happy family together, which became even happier with the birth of little sister, Scout (Cosette Abinante).
But then the real Jason returned, Drew (Cameron Mathison) realized his Jason memories were implanted, and the happy family fell apart. Drew was devastated. Not just to lose what he thought was his identity, but to lose Danny as his son.
This Town Isn’t Big Enough For Both of Us
Now, Drew (who might be in for some big problems) and Jason loath each other. And Danny is convinced the reason Drew isn’t letting Danny visit his little sister, Scout, is because he hates Jason. Even though Drew is framing it as Danny — and Jason — are a danger to Scout.
But we think there’s more to it than that. We think that, deep down, Drew is still so heartbroken about losing Danny, that the idea of seeing Scout and Danny together only reminds him of the perfect family he lost, and of a time in his life when he was truly happy… as opposed to now. Drew doesn’t hate Danny. Drew loves him too much to be reminded of it.
