‘General Hospital’ Preempted by Baseball Playoffs
General Hospital fans will have to wait a little longer for the drama in Port Charles. The long-running soap is being preempted for baseball playoff coverage, leaving viewers without a new episode on at least 2 days this week. But don’t worry — the show will return to its usual schedule soon, and here’s what you need to know.
MLB playoff baseball and soap opera drama clash this week when the 2025 Wild Card Series will preempt General Hospital for at least 2 episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday’s episode is still in question and will depend on the results of the first two games, which is a best-of-3 series between the #5 San Diego Padres (National League West) and the #4 Chicago Cubs (National League Central).
The Cubs and the Padres will face of at the historic Wrigley Field, the home field of the Cubs. The Cubs won home field advantage for the entire series by finishing higher than the Padres in the regular season. All games will air at 3:08 pm EST on ABC. If both teams win one game each, they will face off for a deciding third game on Thursday. The winner of the Wild Card Series will go on to play the Milwaukee Brewers in the best-of-5 National League Division Series.
There should be no more ABC baseball preemptions this season because after the Wild Card Series, TBS will broadcast the National League playoffs and Fox will broadcast the American League playoffs and the World Series.
