General Hospital Recap: Jason Confesses To Carly, Anna Connects The Dots, Molly Almost Kisses Cody

Secrets were revealed and confessions were made on the October 16 episode of General Hospital! Jason (Steve Burton) finally told Carly (Laura Wright) about her daughter’s new job — and Jack’s (Chris McKenna) betrayal. Bouncing theories off of Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) made Anna (Finola Huges) realize that Faison may not be as dead as everyone believes, Ric (Rick Hearst) confided in Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), and Molly (Kristen Vaganos) nearly kissed Cody (Josh Kelly). If you missed any of the action, find out how it went down below!

Carly was looking at the note card Jack sent her along with a dozen red roses when Jason arrived. She told her best friend all about the conversation she’d had with Josslyn about Vaughn being a WSB agent, and how angry she’d been with Jack for keeping it from her. But when Carly began defending Jack, saying that she ultimately realized Vaughn’s position was classified information and he’d promised Josslyn was never in danger, Jason cut her off and proclaimed that Jack was lying to her. Carly blew up at her friend for always assuming the worst of Jack, adding that she didn’t want to feel like she couldn’t tell Jason the truth. Agreeing that their friendship was more important than that, Jason then broke the news to Carly that Josslyn was also in the WSB!

Convinced that her friend was confused, Carly insisted that Josslyn was just a college student enrolled at PCU. Jason explained that while he was at the Five Poppies rescuing Britt, he’d seen Joss and Vaughn on assignment undercover on Jack Brennan’s orders. Still in denial, Carly demanded to know how Jason found out, and he revealed that Anna had pieced it together, but since she couldn’t come out and tell him, she pointed him in Britt’s direction in Croatia so he would find Josslyn as well. Carly freaked out when Jason mused that Josslyn’s “Easter Island trip” months ago had likely been her WSB training, then grew angry when she realized that it had been about a month since Jason had returned to town with Britt. Jason shared that he’d kept quiet to honor Josslyn’s wishes but didn’t want to lie to Carly anymore or let Brennan put someone he loves in danger. Carly immediately wanted to extract her daughter, but Jason said that was impossible without blowing Joss’s cover and risking her life. Frustrated that her hands were tied and angry at Jack, Carly picked up the vase of roses and threw it against the wall, the glass shattering to the floor.

The Final Countdown

Following Valentin’s reunion with Charlotte at Steinmauer, Jack demanded the information Valentin had about Cesar Faison’s final project. Valentin asked to see Anna, but Jack shot down the request, replying that not only did Anna want nothing to do with Valentin, but she was busy working on two large cases. When Jack again pressed for the details about Faison, Valentin wanted to know why he was so interested in a dead man. Jack informed Valentin that two of Faison’s children had come back from the dead within a month of each other, and that Britt was found working at a research facility in Croatia. Valentin noted that if Britt was working on anything connected to Faison, he wouldn’t have trusted her to be the one in charge and that the madman wasn’t working alone.

Jack demanded a name for Faison’s partner, but Valentin didn’t have one to give him. He did know that the project was still running, making huge advances despite the dangers. That further upset Jack, who tried to reason with Valentin that the cold fusion project was partially operating out of Charlotte’s hometown, and it would behoove him to cooperate. Despite his shackles, Valentin was the one holding the power as he told Jack it would behoove him to continue protecting the safety of his daughter. “Now I’ve told you everything I can. Whoever’s running this project doesn’t give a damn about the risks. And they won’t quit until they’ve reached their goal. And they are just as dedicated to the endgame as Faison was himself,” Valentin cautioned.

Airing the Dirty Laundry

Nathan escorted his mom to the Metro Court restaurant, but Liesl’s jovial mood quickly soured when she spotted Britt sitting at the bar. Trying to play peacemaker, Nathan invited Britt to join them for dinner, but his sister declined. Liesl’s snarky, half-hearted invite didn’t do anything to make Britt change her mind, but Rocco’s arrival at the restaurant to dine with Obrecht and Nathan did. Once the group was seated, Liesl’s thorny comments directed toward her daughter led Nathan to pull his mother aside to speak privately in the foyer. Nathan urged her to back off from Britt, but a petulant Liesl justified her behavior that Britt deserved worse for callously making a selfish decision. Eventually, Nathan convinced his mom to drop her grudge and be grateful that they were all alive and together again. At the table, when Britt confided to Rocco that she didn’t blame her mother for being mad at her, the teen shared that perhaps Liesl needed more time, because it was obvious to him that Obrecht loved her.

Returning to the table with Nathan, Liesl apologized for snapping at Britt and suggested they document being together with a photo. After Rocco took a selfie, Nathan chuckled that the teen had gotten himself mixed up in a pretty crazy family. Wanting to know more about them, Rocco asked why Nathan had grown up with Nina, and Liesl divulged that it was because she’d wanted to hide him from his father, Cesar. Rocco didn’t think Faison could be as terrible as people claimed, because people said bad things about Britt and Liesl that weren’t entirely true. Britt replied that there was nothing redeemable about Faison, and he was an awful man who, thankfully, is dead.

Growing Pains

During their private flight back to Port Charles from Switzerland, Lulu worried that she had made the wrong call by allowing Charlotte to see Valentin, but her daughter wanted to visit her father again. Charlotte said she was glad that her father was still the same man, even if it was hard to see him in shackles, and thanked Lulu for agreeing to the visit, even though she hadn’t wanted to. Next, Lulu reiterated that being in contact with Valentin came with risks, since his enemies could use Charlotte as leverage, and beseeched her daughter always to be honest so she could protect the family. Charlotte confided that she wanted to make good choices and worried that it would cause her and her mom to disagree at times. Pointing out that disagreeing was okay, Lulu revealed she admired her daughter’s loyalty to those she cares about, even when other people didn’t understand why. Later, while Lulu read on her tablet, Charlotte opened a message on her phone from Rocco to see the selfie of him with Obrecht, Nathan, and Britt. She flashed back to Valentin’s warning that she and Rocco could not trust Britt Westbourne, but didn’t tell her mom about the message.

The Ghosts of Tormentors Past

Anna wasn’t surprised to learn from Dante that the forensics team didn’t find anything in Nina’s apartment, but she was surprised to hear that Brennan had flown Lulu and Charlotte to Switzerland to see Valentin. Knowing that Jack had to have had an angle for arranging the visit, Anna mused that Valentin must have some “big” information that the WSB station chief wanted and noted that the timing of Charlotte’s Steinmauer trip so soon after Britt and Nathan resurfaced was suspicious. “Jack wouldn’t be playing the Charlotte card if he didn’t have this essential information from Valentin. And why does he need this essential information at the same time that two of Faison’s children have resurfaced?” she wondered. Dante pointed out that Faison was dead, his brain in a jar, but Anna declared that she knew what the man’s work looked like. And, she added, more than anyone, she knew that nothing could be assumed about Faison.

String Theory: Anna (Finola Hughes) followed the path of coincidences while talking with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and arrived at Faison.ABC

Anna recalled how even though Valentin wasn’t part of Faison’s inner circle, Faison respected Valentin’s intellect. Dante noted that Valentin had been close to Faison’s other son, Peter August, but Anna felt Faison had always been fixated on Nathan. Dante stated that while they didn’t know where Nathan had been, they knew his former partner wouldn’t have anything to do with Faison. That had Anna worried that Faison was potentially the reason why Nathan had no recollection of the last several years, especially since Britt had faked her own death. “If anyone could convincingly fake their own death and lull us all into a false sense of security, so we think for one moment that we are safe, it’s Cesar Faison,” the commissioner realized.

Covering Tracks

Frustrated with the finger-pointing between Ric, Ava, Alexis, and Kristina, Cody attempted to leave Alexis’s house but didn’t get far when he opened the front door to find Molly standing there. Ecstatic to see Ric in her mother’s living room, Molly gushed about how much she’d missed him and how happy she was that he was back to complete their crazy family. Rather than outing his abductors, Ric claimed that he’d been in hell for the last 30 days on his digital detox and praised Cody for saving his sanity. Noticing on Alexis’s laptop that there was less than a minute left on the wire transfer, Ric closed the computer, then made the decision to conceal the truth from Molly. To explain away his absence, he announced he’d joined a cult!

Ric explained how he’d had to hand over his phone, then consumed a tea — “Are you saying you literally drank the Kool-aid?” Molly deadpanned — because he’d been told it was part of the detox process, but he later found out it wasn’t tea. Debating what to share next, Ric stammered, “I uh… I uh…” leading Molly to assume he’d been on an ayahuasca trip. As Kristina, Ava, and Alexis looked on with varying degrees of apprehension, Ric ran with Molly’s assumption, saying that when he finally came to, he grabbed his phone and left, and that’s when Cody and Outback found him wandering around in the woods.

Wild Tale: Rather than rat out (from l.) Kristina (Kate Mansi), Ava (Maura West), and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Ric (Rick Hearst) spun a yarn for Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) benefit.ABC

Cody downplayed the praise he was showered with for saving Ric’s life from a dangerous cult and offered to drive Molly and Ric to the hospital. As soon as they were out of the house, Ava, Kristina, and Alexis turned their attention to their devices to track the status of the money transfer. With the Cassadine funds returned to Ace’s account, Ava’s divorce settlement from Nikolas back in her account, and Ric’s car destroyed, the women exhaled. Kristina divulged that she’d been worried Ric would tell Molly what really happened, and Alexis noted that he couldn’t expose them without exposing himself. Ava thought Alexis should be happier that the mess was over, but Alexis claimed that they weren’t out of the woods yet: Not only would Laura want an explanation for how the funds were back in Ace’s account, but Ric would have to answer for the emails they’d sent in his name — and he was going to want to seek revenge against them. Alexis also fretted that Cody would rat them out, but Kristina reassured her mom that Cody wouldn’t want to be the reason Molly’s dad, mom and sister went to prison. “Cody knows how much Molly loves her family,” Kristina argued. “He’s not going to be the reason that she loses us.”

Secret Confessions

Felicia confided to Elizabeth that she was worried Nathan might want his son to move in with him. Legally, Nathan had every right to take James, but Felicia felt it was best for the boy to stay in his family home rather than go live with a virtual stranger. Liz urged Felicia to speak with Nathan, advising her to encourage Nathan to be a part of James’s family rather than take his son away from it.

Later, Liz was at the hub when Molly and Cody arrived with Ric. Relieved to see Ric but worried about his haggard appearance, Liz accompanied him to an exam room. He apologized for worrying her, and she was about to update him on Willow when Ric confessed that he hadn’t been representing Willow pro bono — Nina had been paying him. “Willow wasn’t going to accept my help if she thought Nina was involved, and what’s the point of you believing in me if the thing you’re giving me credit for is a lie,” Ric said wryly. Appreciative of his honesty, Liz believed that before his ordeal in the woods, Ric never would have volunteered that information, and they shared a heartfelt moment when he beamed that she always saw the best in him.

Better Man: Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) gave Ric more credit than he thought he deserved.ABC

Out in the hallway, Molly thanked Cody for rescuing her dad, unable to imagine losing anyone else she cared about. Then she brought up the night she interrupted him and Ava at the stables, and that she never got to tell him what she went there to say. Cody invited her to tell him now since they had time, but Molly suggested it might be easier if she showed him. Then, Molly leaned in to kiss Cody, but before their lips could meet, Elizabeth interrupted with the news that Ric was asking for her.

Kiss Quotient: Molly and Cody (Josh Kelly) didn’t complete their lip lock.
