While social media is a great platform for many things, it’s often a breeding ground for negativity and when you’re in the public eye, a lot of stars are at the end of that nastiness. Sure, it’s great that we get to interact with our favorite soap actors and actresses but when certain posters make snide comments, well, some of the stars make a point to let them know exactly how they feel about their words.
One actress recently did just that and General Hospital alum Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda) did it with grace.
“My team blocks thousands of people a day. Between perverted guys and judgemental, negative and/or hateful people to keyboard warriors who sit inside a structure owned by someone else,” Marcil stated then went on to explain, “Now, people who have differing opinions on art or a character I’ve portrayed? That is welcome!”

We can’t blame the actress for addressing this matter… Really, who wants to see people commenting with mean remarks under our social media posts?
“As long as you keep saying my name, I keep making money for my family,” Marcil added. “As long as I’ve stirred up a feeling in you then I’ve done my job as an artist. Otherwise? I could care less how you feel about my personal beliefs or my family. Carry on!”
Many friends and fans came to her defense, including Helen Rapos, who shared, “Vanessa, I have been a fan since you first joined General Hospital! I love you and your art! You are a beautiful actor and human being! Keep doing your thing and loving your life and family! Negativity and hate are a waste of time and energy!”
