Here is everything you need to know about the Liam character in the daily soap opera.

Hank Northrop says his Days of Our Lives character Liam Selejko ‘is nothing like’ him

Hank Northrop spoke about his debut in Days of Our Lives with Soaps at the Emmy Awards 2025 red carpet. He stated, “My character is nothing like me. So just diving into him and who he is as a person has absolutely changed me, the backstory I’ve had to do.” Northrop continued, “There was a lot of backstory I had to dive into that was very dark, and I’m a happy, optimistic person. So that was a fun challenge.”

He also shared that his character is “trying to turn the corner” and “be a better human.”

In another interview in February 2025, Northrop opened up about how he landed the role around the time his father passed away. He told TV Insider, “I did the audition and I felt good about it, but my focus was on my father.”

“So, it kind of took the back burner in my mind. And then I got a callback and didn’t hear for a little bit,” the actor explained. He further said, “And then the most magical thing happened on my birthday, January 9. I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears. It was so cosmic.”

Noting how it seemed like a gift from his dad, Northrop shared, “It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing.” The actor stated things like this can’t be ‘scripted,’ and it gave him “the ability to cope with it a little more.”

Hank Northrop made his debut on DOOL yesterday, as the show streamed on Peacock.
