We previously reported that Hank learned back in February of this year he would be playing a role on the same show that his dad and mom both appeared on. Wayne Northrup passed away on November 29, 2024 at the age of 77 from Alzheimer’s disease. Hank’s dad, played Roman from 1981-1984 and again in 1991-1994. He later rejoined DAYS in 2005-2006 as Alex North. Meanwhile, his mom, Lynn Herring appeared on Days of our Lives as Lisanne Gardner in 1992, while taking a break from her home at General Hospital.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Hank last week on the red carpet at the 52nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards. When we asked him what he could tease about his DAYS character, and if the audience will like him or not, and if he is a bad guy or not, Hank shared,
“I will say this, I will say maybe give my character a little bit of time. Maybe have a little patience with him. ”

To prepare for his first soap role, Hank went to his mom, daytime veteran, Lynn Herring to run lines with, but as Northrup shared it proved a tad difficult because Lynn was a proud mama! “I tried to (run lines with her) but she was just so darn excited that it was so hard to work on it. She’s just like, “Oh, my God! You’re doing soaps! I’m so happy!” And I’m like, “Mom, this is like a crying scene! We gotta gotta dial it down.’ But, she’s been overall very helpful.”

Getting the call on his birthday to come to do a role on DAYS turned out to be very healing for Hank; following the impact of the passing of his dad. “I grew up idolizing this man. He (Wayne) was just the best father. He was the best actor, best person I could ever imagined spending my life as a son with,” expressed Hank. “So for DAYS to invite me on, and to have the run I’ve had so far, it’s just been honestly such a healing process. I’m so grateful, so grateful.”
