Home and Away star jailed for six months after ‘frittering away’ chance to turn life around
A former Home and Away star has been jailed for six months after being accused by the judge of “frittering away” a chance to turn his life around.
Orpheus Pledger was sentenced at Victoria County Court for repeatedly breaching a court order, reported the Herald Sun.
Judge Michael Tinney deducted the 127 days Pledger has spent in custody from the sentence.
The 32-year-old played Mason Morgan in the Aussie soap from 2016 and 2019 before his character was killed off.
Last year he hit the headlines after he was arrested for violently assaulting a woman during a drug-fuelled attack. He had also thrown her to the ground and kicked her three weeks earlier. While undergoing a medical assessment, he fled, prompting a three-day manhunt.
He pleaded guilty to charges of recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault and was given a seven-month jail sentence but that was changed on appeal to a two-year community correction order.
The Herald Sun reported Pledger had repeatedly violated his parole including 19 unexplained absences, the use of methamphetamine and cannabis, and also visiting the victim’s home.
In 2021, he also faced drug possession charges but was spared a criminal record.
His lawyers said Pledger’s issues with drugs started when he missed out on a role in the US show, The 100.
