Fans will remember that April and her boyfriend Dylan Penders have recently become trapped under the control of Ray Walters and his mum Celia Daniels, forced to settle “debts” in what’s actually a scheme to manipulate them into drug dealing.

Recent instalments saw Celia unmasked as the criminal mastermind behind Ray’s drugs operation, revealing a far darker side to her character.

Displaying her domineering nature, Celia slapped the teenage April and issued a brutal ultimatum about the rules of drug dealing.

This followed an episode in which April’s sibling Leo ended up in hospital after taking an ecstasy tablet that April had accidentally lost whilst heading to meet Ray, reports the Daily Star.

Celia threatened April that her life was at risk unless she lied to police about where she got the illegal drugs, a demand the schoolgirl quickly accepted.

With the situation growing increasingly dark, Friday’s instalment featured distressing scenes.

In the most recent episode, Ray informed April that he was dispatching her on another job, coercing her into accepting the task or he’ll sell her debt. Ray took April to a hotel, providing her with cocaine for a ‘valuable client’ and instructing her to have a drink.

Upon her anxious arrival, Ray’s unsettling client, Tim, was thrilled as he accepted the cocaine and attempted to coerce April into consuming the drug and vodka. Soon, April found herself cornered in a bedroom with Tim…

Simultaneously, Dawn Fletcher confided in Joe Tate about her own traumatic past. Dawn’s history echoes April’s current predicament and as she bravely recounted her previous trials and vowed to protect her daughter, Clemmie, it served as a voiceover to April’s scenes.

Fortunately, a quick-witted April managed to escape just in time, but Celia soon caught up with her and manipulated her over the incident.

Friday’s episode centred on April and Dawn, leading soap fans to hope that Dawn might be the one to rescue April, recognising the teenager’s plight.

One viewer shared on social media: “Well I really liked that episode I’m hoping Dawn will be the one who saves April”, another responded: “That’s what I was thinking as well”, while a different fan speculated: “Could Dawn be the 1 to save April then do we reckon?” Another added: “Yes I am hoping so! !”.
