Jason Donovan denies ‘soap return’ after Christmas Emmerdale stint
Jason Donovan has given his verdict on a possible “soap return” as he sat down with the Loose Women panel following his Emmerdale cameo.
On December 11, viewers were in for a welcomed change as singer Jason Donovan made a cameo and enjoyed a sing-a-long in The Woolpack. He was surrounded by cheering cast members as he gave a one-off performance in the Dales.
The Neighbours legend performed one of his classic hits to a packed out Woolpack for Lydia Dingle, after Kim Tate organised the surprise following her disappointment that Sam Dingle failed to get tickets.
Jason said of his latest soap stint: “I’m incredibly excited to have been asked to make a cameo appearance in Emmerdale as myself. Filming was great fun and all of the cast and crew were extremely welcoming. Singing in the Woolpack set was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”
However, the episode did take a dark turn at the end as Kim Tate was left lying down on the ground in agony. With her horse also injured, it looked as though they’d been caught in some sort of snare.
In recent episodes, there was heartbreak for Kim as Ice, her horse, had to be put down due to his injury. She’s since isolated herself from loved ones and plans to spend Christmas alone.

On Wednesday (December 24), the singer appeared on Loose Women as he sat down with Kaye Adams, Oti Mabuse, Judi Love and Nadia Sawalha.
When asked about his Emmerdale special, Jason said: “I got the opportunity to go on there as myself. It was one day in Leeds, the cast, the production were fantastic. It was a really good little storyline, one of the characters as a fan.”

With rumours circulating that he could make a soap return after his stint in the Dales, Jason shared: “I’m not really going back to my soap roots as people have suggested. But, it was just a nice nod to making someone’s day come true.
“It is sort of what we tend to do sometimes with the currency that I have, and the music and songs that have had such an influence. Music is a bit of magic and this time of the year, it connects. I really love playing at Christmas King’s College. It calms me down, then I have a glass of champagne and I start telling the truth!”
Discussing his new tour, he explained: “It’s a celebration of 35 years of live work for me. I did a bunch of dates this year, it’s called Doing Fine. I won’t tell you the full story of that title because I probably don’t have the time, but I thought the tour was a success.
“All the elements came together, and we thought about doing some more dates and going to some more towns that we didn’t visit.” He continued: “I got this email where this guy had unearthed all this footage of my dad in like 1956 singing on an Australian film. I thought, isn’t that a great idea to bring that into the show?”
