General Hospital fans were heartbroken when actor Jonathan Jackson, who portrays Luck Spencer, announced his departure from the ABC soap opera just nine months after returning in 2024. Now, the five-time Daytime Emmy winner has offered an exciting update about the possibility of reprising the iconic role.

Jackson attended the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on October 17, 2025, where he won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Drama. Following the ceremony, he spoke with Daytime Confidential about the win, his time on the show, and whether he might return to Port Charles.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the long-running daytime drama, Jackson Shared, “I hope so,” he said. “It was a very exciting year, almost, about nine months of work, almost a year of work.” This isn’t the first time that the actor has hinted at a possible return.

He went on to explain that distance has made things challenging. “I’m trying to figure it out. I live in Tennessee and flying back and forth is a lot on the family.”

Still, Jackson made it clear he hasn’t closed the door on a return. “But I’m trying to figure it out because I’d love to do some more work there.”

Fans React

Fans took to X (Formerly Twitter) after the interview to share their reactions. One fan hopes that Jackson figures it out and will appear when the soap honors the late Denise Alexander, writing, “I definitely want him to come back when the show does the tribute to Lesley Webber. Lucky needs to be there to say goodbye to his grandma.”

A second user added that they would be fine with occasional appearances but hopes the show doesn’t invest too much into his storyline if he isn’t going to stick around for longer periods of time. “I love Lucky and it would be great to see him drop in once in a while. Let him show up for weddings and funerals and if someone is in the hospital. But don’t give him a story line. He’s not staying around.”

A third user added, “If he comes back I hope they use him properly I’m a big fan of his but last time they wasted his talents.”

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams weeknights on Hulu.
