Emmerdale favourite Ross Barton makes his return to the village tonight, and it’s bad news for Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle. As Ross arrives back following a few weeks away in Liverpool, he heads straight to Aaron’s home with an axe to grind.

Ross has been away spending time with his older brother Pete, who needed some moral support after splitting from his girlfriend. The break was written in to explain actor Michael Parr’s real-life paternity leave, but he’s about to be thrown straight back into the action.

Bad boy Ross storms straight into the Mill flat after learning that Robert and Aaron have begun making tentative plans to welcome Robert’s son Seb back into their lives. Seb has been living with his great-aunt Angela since his mum Rebecca passed away.

Ross is quick to remind Robert and Aaron that giving up Seb was one of the most difficult moments of his life, so he’s not sure he can cope with seeing Seb around the village every day. Much to Robert and Aaron’s alarm, Ross has already taken steps towards sabotaging their plans…

“How many psycho ex-husbands have tried to kill you both lately?” Ross asks Robert and Aaron, questioning their suitability as parents with Kev Townsend and John Sugden on the loose.

“I just want him to be happy,” Ross adds, reflecting on his relationship with young Seb. “Give over, this isn’t about Seb – this is about you two.

“If you really want the best for that kid, you would leave him be. Angela has given him a stability that none of us ever could. So that’s why I told her she’d be insane to let you back into his life.”

Danny Miller, who plays Aaron, recently spoke about the potential return for Seb and why Robert and Aaron are so keen on the idea.

“[Robert’s] life has been turned around,” Danny explained. “He is back in a stable relationship, or so he believes, with the love of his life, and life is good. And they’ve got the farm back.

“I think the idea would be to pick up where they left off. Seb lost his mum Rebecca and Ross signed him over to Rebecca’s auntie. So the only other person that could potentially bring him up is his dad. I think, Aaron being the person that he is, would love to look after and cherish this kid and bring it up as their own. They think maybe this could work.”

He continued: “Ross finds out through Rebecca’s auntie. He gets a text asking for some words of advice as to whether they should be allowed to see Seb, to which Ross rightly says: ‘No, absolutely not. They’re the last people I would give him to because of everything that’s gone on’.

“I think given that Robert and Aaron don’t really know Rebecca’s auntie, Ross could be a problem.”
