Soap legend who plays notorious villain quits Hollyoaks in major blow for show

 


Hollyoaks star John Middleton has quit Hollyoaks after less than a year playing a villain on the soap – bosses are planning a big exit storyline for the actor, who previously starred on Emmerdale

 

 

John Middleton has quit Hollyoaks after just six months. The actor, who plays Fraser “Froggy” Black, will bow out of the E4 soap later this year. Bosses are planning an explosive exit for the star, who previously starred on Emmerdale.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses believed they were onto a winner by signing up John  to play a cockney villain because the character was so different to his loveable role on Emmerdale. But John has now decided to bow out. He told them of his decision to quit and bosses have been left to come up with an explosive exit for him.

“They are still deciding whether to kill him off or whether to leave the door open for a possible return in the future.”

John was over the moon when he landed his role on Hollyoaks last summer. At the time, he said: “From Vicar to Villain is quite a leap but that’s

why I love this part. Froggy has a very dark history and he could reveal everyone’s murky past. He knows where all the bodies are buried; perhaps quite literally…”

John is the latest big name to leave Hollyoaks in recent months. Hunky James Sutton left earlier this month after decades on the soap. Others going include Tamara Wall and Alex Fletcher.

Many of the cast worry they will get killed off in a dramatic storyline.

Last year, regular Jennifer Metcalfe admitted: “Being a soap actress is a job where you don’t have much control.

“If somebody wants to kill you off because that works for the storyline, then that’s what will happen. But I don’t dwell on that.

“Whatever will be will be. If it happens, I will figure something out. The nature of the job is that it can all be there one minute and not there the next”.
