‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: How Billy Flynn KILLED IT During Cane and Lily’s Steamy Midnight Kiss On NYE

‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers reveal that the New Year’s Eve episode in which Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) kissed Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) at midnight was one of the few things Y&R has done right in a long time.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Billy Flynn Has Been Unfairly Compared to Daniel Goddard

Billy Flynn killed it in his scenes with Khalil, proving he’s up to the challenge of playing Cane. Many Y&R fans have complained because Billy Flynn isn’t Daniel Goddard, which is unfair.

Flynn has made the role his own and demonstrated he’s one of the best romantic leading men Y&R has had in a long time.

Fans of Days of Our Lives who also watch Y&R know that Billy Flynn knows how to play a man in love like no other actor. He’s definitely the perfect Romeo.

It actually took us by surprise, but Khalil and Flynn have major chemistry. Despite not being much of a Lily fan, Khalil convincingly played a visibly overwhelmed woman, and it was very moving.

Lily tried to deny her feelings for Cane, but it was clear that she could no longer fight it. She brought up his lies, the AI program, and his pretending to be Aristotle Dumas.

She was obviously trying to talk herself out of a potential reunion with him. Lily used the excuse that Cane had pretended to be someone else and deceived her and their children.

However, Cane did all that to impress Lily and his children. He built an empire to pass down to his kids. If this were literally any other actor besides Flynn, the scene may not have worked.

When Cane begged Lily to stop pretending that they didn’t belong together, it was a masterclass in how to perform a soapy romantic scene.

The writing was also decent enough to allow Khalil and Flynn’s chemistry to shine brightly. The push/pull dynamic and tension between them is electric.

‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: The Chemistry Between Khalil and Flynn Is Fire

Fans need to remember that since Flynn is a new actor playing Cane, it’s almost like Flynn is playing a new character as well.

While it’s true that Cane was played by another actor who doesn’t share the same history with Khalil that Goddard did, it may be controversial, but dare we say Flynn and Khalil’s chemistry is far more palpable?

Flynn also plays the history between Lily and Cane believably. He’s done a satisfying job conveying their complicated past to the audience and Lane fans

The only caveat is that Khalil will exit the show for maternity leave soon.  We have to wonder if that means that Cane will gravitate back toward Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).

Lily has been trying to keep herself from falling back in love with Cane. She knows he hooked up with Phyllis, but Cane was also trying to put Lily behind him and move forward because that’s what he thought she wanted.

While Phyllis was likely only a fun distraction for Cane, Lily has been upset about them hooking up. Cane made it clear that Lily is the only woman he will ever love.

Many Y&R fans who watched the NYE kiss between Lily and Cane were pleasantly surprised. The swoon-worthy scene was done well, and the passion between the two characters was evident.

For those who haven’t given Billy Flynn a fair shot in the role of Cane, it may be worth it to give him a chance.
