The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) believes she has everything and everyone under control. But hacking Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) artificial intelligence program isn’t seen as a betrayal.

Phyllis was upset that Cane ditched his plan to take over Genoa City, Wisconsin’s, legacy companies. But her intention to steal his AI weapon and offer it to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) isn’t about paying Cane back.

She wants to set Victor up because Phyllis can never forget and has never forgiven inflicting Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman in a dual role) upon her. Asking the Moustache for control of Jabot in exchange for the AI program is part of the freelance effort she’s creating. Cane’s response to her expected con job is a secondary consideration, rather than a vital part of her game.

Marco Annicelli Has One Ear Open

Marco is the doppelganger Victor sprang from a Peruvian prison years ago. Jack was rendered unconscious and framed for the murder of Kelly Andrews (Cady McClain) on a remote island, which allowed the switch to take place.

Phyllis (as then played by Gina Tognoni) didn’t know her husband was abducted or that the look-alike wasn’t Jack. Viewers were asked to suspend belief in many ways as this storyline played out, especially because Phyllis didn’t suspect that Marco wasn’t Jack for months.

The fallout from the above was fierce and included Jack being unwilling to go after Victor when everyone was safely back in GC. Phyllis was devastated that Jack wouldn’t defend her honor, and that led to this couple’s second divorce, which happened in 2016. They’ve never remarried since.

Cane Ashby Knows Phyllis Summers Did It

Cane had Phyllis followed after meeting with her at the GC Athletic Club. That’s relatively easy since he owns the building she lives in and has plenty of money to pay his security staff to trail Red.

So, he knew that she met with Victor at the Ranch. She played coy when talking about that meeting, knowing in the back of her mind that she had seized his power card.

There isn’t much Cane can do at this point, and his focus remains on Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and reconciling with their children. However, keeping his eyes on Phyllis means she needs to be careful.

Victor Newman Claims To Agree

Victor told Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) that he intends to crush Jack. That will be easier if he gets the AI program from Phyllis.

But Victor is questioning Phyllis’ plan. He knows that what he intended won’t happen if he gives her Jabot in trade for Cane’s stolen weapon.

Sticking it to Jack was the prize Victor wanted. So, until this deal is finalized, he’ll keep all options open. Meanwhile, Phyllis appears to want to frame Victor as the thief, with criminal implications implied.
