‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Y and R Has Been In Creative Decline For Years Now-Will The New Characters Coming To The Soap Breathe New Life Into This Bore Of A Show?
‘The Young and the Restless’ spoilers suggest that Y&R has been in a creative decline for years now. The staff behind the scenes appears to be in short supply of talented writers.
‘The Young and the Restless’: The Aristotle Dumas Story Fell Flat
We now have Billly Flynn, who is an amazing and talented actor, and very easy on the eyes. Yet, all he ever does is sit on his train car and drink expensive booze.
He talks a lot about taking over Genoa City, but none of his game plans have been explained. It also doesn’t help his quest that we all know he’s going to bow down to the Great Victor Newman (Eric Braden).
Plus, the Aristotle Dumas storyline in France lasted foreverand a day, and the only purpose it seemed to serve was as a killing spree for a woefully underused legacy character and another promising one.
The good news is that we will soon have more great actors joining the show. Roger Howarth is set to play a mystery character, and Tamara Braun will play a new character named Sienna Bacall, just to name two.
It may take the show in a new direction, but we have yet to see the show use Billy Flynn wisely. The bad news? Victor is allergic to character growth and is as insufferable as he ever was.
The Mustache never fails to be anti-Abbott, which accurately serves history, but is getting tired and old. It’s the same song and dance.
Most couples lack chemistry, and there is hardly any passion on the show. Claire Newman (Hayley Erin) andKyle Abbott(Michael Melaor) have the same conversation over and over, and it’s become a drag to watch.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: The Corporate Drama Is As Stale As Old Bread
The storylines are also too focused on the show’s signature bland corporate drama. At the same time, key players have been reduced to repetitive dialogue. There is also not enough romance.
The stories often lack the type of soapy drama and goodness we see on pretty much every other show.
‘Beyond the Gates’, ‘Days of Our Lives’, and ‘General Hospital’ are all hitting it out of the park, while Y&R has become creatively empty and simply boring.
There is always the promise of the pot getting stirred, only to waste the stories on stale predictability and, dare we mention once again, repetitiveness.
Beyond that, The Young and the Restless shockingly remains the number one soap on the air. It’s a major head scratcher.
We have often wondered if it’s because the show is on during the lunch hour or if fans are simply falling asleep and leaving the channel on. Don’t get us wrong, it’s an iconic show, but lately it just hasn’t hit the mark.
There are no shockers on the show anymore. We do have some hope with the new characters coming in, but it won’t make up for the abysmal writing.
The acting is solid, but Josh Griffith’s writing is overly business-focused and lacks compelling plot points that ultimately fall flat.
Y&R used to be a great show. Yet, in recent years, it’s become a dud. Simply put, the show needs more exciting drama. We’re hoping the new actors pending will bring that.
