Emmerdale has been airing tense scenes between Laurel Thomas and Arthur Thomas recently

Emmerdale aired harrowing scenes recently as Arthur Thomas accidentally pushed his mum Laurel Thomas down the stairs.

Only recently, Laurel struck up a romance with Ray Walters without realising his sinister career. Drug dealer Ray had been exploiting youngsters April Windsor and Dylan Penders in the village, as well as keeping Bear Wolf captive in a distressing modern slavery storyline.

Earlier this year, Bear killed Ray in self-defence as he attempted to kill his son Paddy Dingle and Dylan with Laurel learning the sinister truth about her boyfriend.

Meanwhile, Laurel’s son, Arthur, discovered Ray’s backpack of money and drugs, keeping it secret and intending on using the money himself.

After Laurel discovered the items, she disposed of the drugs and gave the money to April’s family, who had been exploited for months by Ray, leaving Arthur seething.

Things went from bad to worse when Arthur discovered Laurel went to Ray’s burial, leaving the youngster even more angry at his mother.

Laurel tried to be understanding about her son’s struggles but it soon erupted into a fiery argument, where Arthur accidentally pushed Laurel down the stairs, where she cracked her head and was rushed to hospital.

In hospital, Laurel stuck to her account that she blacked out and fell down the stairs. However, Nicola King was convinced there was more going on as she sought out doctors to find a medical explanation, leaving Arthur panicked his secret might be exposed.

Since leaving hospital, Laurel hasn’t felt right and has been suffering with dizziness, leaving stepdaughter Gabby Thomas and local doctor Manpreet Sharma concerned.

Gabby has started to suspect that Arthur could be responsible for the fall with Laurel insisting she must have tripped over some of daughter Dotty’s toys.

However, some soap watchers think there may be another explanation for Laurel’s symptoms and dizziness since the fall.

Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: “I bet Laurel is pregnant with Rays baby. @emmerdale #Emmerdale”, a different account put: “#emmerdale dear god,is she pregnant” while another viewer added: “Wonder if Laurel is pregnant #Emmerdale.”
