Salem City is in for a bittersweet week, one buzzing with excitement tinged with sadness as several beloved characters return and a few bid farewell to the show. While some entries bring peace amidst chaos, others are already causing waves with their return. Shawn’s (Brandon Beemer) back, bringing some much-needed calmness to Belle’s (Martha Madison) chaotic life.

Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) is another returning character. Justin connects with Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), who’s planning some legal action to gain custody of her grandchildren.

Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), too, makes his return. Horton catches up with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Rafe (Galen Gering), the topic being their mutual ex.

Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) returns to the series. The mad scientist teams up with EJ and Gwen (Emily O’Brien) as they secretly work on a project in the hidden area of the Tom Horton Free Clinic.

EJ’s mother, Susan Banks ( Stacey Haiduk), is back. She comes with some feedback for him, most of which isn’t positive. Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) returns as well and interacts with Brady. The young girl zeroes in on Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and has some questions for her favorite doctor and father.

Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) has made his return, causing waves already. Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) is looped into Kristen’s prison break, and now he’s being held captive with her in the DiMera crypt.

Jennifer Deveraux’s (Melissa Reeves) legal conflicts with her former son-in-law, Chad (Billy Flynn), are heating up as both fight for the custody of the children.

Aaron Greene (Louis Tomeo) returns to the series. He tries to connect with his troubled baby mama, Sophia (Rachel Boyd).

Besides the returns, this week marks the departure of some beloved characters from Days of Our Lives. Viewers won’t be seeing more of Maree Cheatham as Marie Horton and Roark Critchlow as Mike Horton. Andrew Donovan (Colton Little), Will Horton (Chandler Massey), and Paul Narita (Christopher Sean) are also leaving the show.
