On most weeks, ITV will be airing five episodes of its two main soaps per week. The new power hour runs from 8pm to 9pm and includes both Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

However, there are occasions where the broadcaster is forced to shake-up its plans. Due to having live coverage of sporting events such as the Carabao Cup (football).

ITV will be broadcasting the semi-final first-leg tie between Newcastle United and Manchester City tonight (January 13). Coverage is set to begin at 7.30pm and finish at around 10.30pm.

It means that the football broadcast clashes with the regular soap schedule – and has caused Emmerdale to take a night off. The soap will be back tomorrow (January 14), it has been confirmed.

Emmerdale will start at 8pm on Wednesday, Thursday (January 15), and Friday (January 16), Each episode has a run time of 30 minutes and will also be available to watch on ITVX.

The preview for tomorrow’s episode, via Radio Times, reads: “Evidence is found and an arrest is made, while Laurel is struggling and the search for Bear continues.”
